First post so please go easy on me. I am very very new to Dishnet but not to satellite itself. Some of the hardware stuff does get confusing for me I must admit.

I am moving from Canada to the US ;) and would like to know what hardware I need to get HD channels and SD channels.

Do I need a Dish1000 with 3 LNBs? in order to obtain HD channels whcih is most important to me.

Secondly, are Dishnetworks satellites near Bell Expressvu's here in Canada? Basically the dish must face Southeast? or more south? I know its somewhat dependent on where you live.

Thanks for reading. :)

Welcome to SatelliteGuys.

It all depends on where you are moving to. Some area's call for a 1000 Plus, some call for a 1000, some prefer a two dish setup. In my area most HD installs call for a 1000 Plus, or depending on mounting options and LOS and customer needs it could be a two dish setup.

Anyhow most of DISH faces the southwest.

More or less just call Claude @dishstore.net setup service and let the technician do a walk through and discuss everything.

Just order ViP622 and HD package additionally to your SD selection - Dish will install everything for you for free.
LOS for a dish with 110/119/129 LNBFs [D1000 or D1000.2] heading 20+ degree to south.

Aww well I will be on the west coast, pretty much inbetween Blaine WA and Bellingham WA. Pacific Northwest for sure. Basically right in the top right of corner of the US. On the border if that makes things easier. I was assuming southeast. :) But thanks for welcoming me.
Cheers

Here let me welcome you by unleashing a torrent of flames on the new guy.

Just kidding of course.

What dish you will need for all the HD channels that are available to you will depend on where you will reside. Some cities need a Dish1000, others need a 1000+, and in my area (The North East) we require two dishes.

So let us know where you are moving too and someone will reply with exactly what you need.

LNBs? Multi switch?

So anyone know if my Bellexpressvu equipment will work with Dish. Example the LNBs? Multi-switch? I did find out I probably need the Dish1000 to get the HD channels?

Thanks

It may or may not, but when you are a new Dish customer, the will include all the stuff that you need as part of the free installation.

Guys, I think the problem is he is "moving" to the US. Therefore he needs to purchase the right equipment himself. To the poster, you need to determine what city you want your HD locals from (SD locals are on spot beam and depending where you are you probably won't be able to get them). Then you can check which satellite location you'll need. Probably 129 which means you'll need a Dish 1000 or a dish 500 and a separate dish for 129.

If you still have an address in Canada, AND you have the equipment, I'd keep the canadian sats. That would give you distant nets in HD. It would probably be cheaper. Just don't tell Bellexpressvu you are moving to the US.

How to check software version?
