I sold some receivers several years ago to a group in South Carolina that were doing that very thing.

Finally! I found some one who sells parts to do this... then I recoiled at the price tag

500 Euros for the DVB-S transmitter
300 Euros for the MPEG2 Modulator

Sigh... Gotta start saving those pennies

I am wondering why don't they try using MPEG-4 instead of MPEG-2 by cutting down the bandwidth from 3 + or - MHz wide to around to maybe to less than 1 MHz for ham TV transmission?

This would be usefully for lower ham freqs, like 420 to 430 MHz ham TV band "70 Cm" and gives you better chances of TV DXing!!

Someday, we might able get down low as 6-meter band if we get our hand on 8QPSK with MPEG-4 codec format. "50 to 54 MHz band"

Here's more good stuff!!

This time is a 8VSB ham TV mode, even though is a bandwith hog at 6 MHz wide.

They were transmitting on 33 Cm band, 902 to 928 MHz band.

back in the days of old you could connect your camcorder to your vcr, connect to the tv out to a tv amp, the to an antenna, and have your own little tv station!

I used to do the TV amp hooked up to rabbit ears trick so I could broadcast a cable channel OTA far enough so I could watch a portable TV by the pool.
