We're moving to far west Texas where DTV shows that "local channels" exist (ABC, PBS, and some crap; but not NBC or CBS) so they say the FCC prohibits them from giving us access to NBC or CBS from another city. They say this is based on the zip code where the equipment is installed.

I know that people who live in the canyon where we will live have no OTA reception at all, but perhaps that doesn't factor in.

If this obstacle is exists, are there ways to skirt around it?

Note that I want to upgrade to at least one HD receiver so the dish will capable of that.

Is there a list of zip codes to which we could be moving that would have no local channels so we can qualify for getting NBC West, etc.? I can see us receiving our bill in a nearby town but living somewhere that no local channel is available. :D

I am not sure what zip code and address you should use, but "moving" your service address (not billing) after the install is easy to do. Or so they say......:p

If you just do a search on "moving", you'll find tons of info on how to do it.
You can still have the bills sent to your "real" address, while getting the nets of another...
