H21 problem with an HDMI switch

I'm running an H21 through an HDMI switch and every time I switch off the H21 and back again, I lose signal. I have to power down/power up the H21 to regain signal. Any one else experience this?

Edit: BTW, the switch is a 2x1 switch from monoprice purchased about a year ago. I wonder if a newer switch from them would work better...

I've tried (3) different HDMI Switches, all with "auto switching"; and, they all really dislike HDMI.

In my case, I'd select Input #3, and any time the airconditioning kicked on, it would switch back to Input #1.

One significant issue is that the sources (Samsung BD-P1500 and DirecTV H-21 both seem to have some signals on the HDMI cable, all the time. So, the switches don't know how to switch.
