I have an H21-200 receiver and an new SL3 dish.
The dish came with a Perfect Vision 950-2250 MHz satellite finder.
I have the dish on a perfect vision tripod, and have adjusted it
for the zipcode 20910: 38 deg Elev, 226 deg Azim, 63 deg Tilt.
When I aim at ~226 Azimuth, the finder does seem to get a weak
signal, but never seems reliable. The H21 never sees any transponders.
When I rotate to about 245, the finder seems to indicate a strong
signal, but the H21 still sees no transponders.
The H21 seems to be looking for satellites 99, 101, 103W, which
should be at Azimuth 226.
The sat finder is clearly not a fine piece of engineering, and it seems
to show a pulse at about 1 Hz (i suppose from the H21 search) that
makes it very difficult to use.
The finder has a '22 kHz On' LED, but it never illuminates.
Two questions:
1) Should not the H21 see at least one transponder if the finder shows
a signal? Could it be something else?
2) Is this sat finder a waste of time, or will it suffice for the job?
Thanks for the help. This is frustrating....
