I just received a new h20-100 to replace my 600 that was having some issues. After connecting it up, I could not get any video through the new h20's hdmi port. I called tech support, got New Delhi tech, who wanted me to go through all sorts of settings on my Sony, which I refused to do. I explained to her that all I did was unplug my connections from the old h20 and reconnected them to the new one. To make a long story shorter(not short) she hung up on me as I was reconnecting the old h20 to prove to her that it had nothing to do with my TV. I then called back and got New Delhi tech #2. Before he got halfway through with what he wanted me to do, I cut him off and said, I believe there's a problem with the hdmi port, and couldn't we prove it by connecting the RCA video jack up to see if we had a picture? Lo and behold we had video. He put me on hold for about 5 min, then came back and said that there was a known issue with the hdmi port that was discovered on 9/11 and that it was a software problem. It would be fixed by a satellite download. The kicker was that he then told me that there was, as of this time, no solution for this problem. I would have to use composite cables until who the hell knows when(embellished quote)the fixed is sent out. So basically what *d did was send me a receiver that they knew was defective. I was pissed! I have all my wiring fished thru walls and using a composite was not feasible. He just told me he was not authorized to return the receiver, and that I could not keep my old receiver, which I could at least muddle along with. After requesting a supervisor and waiting about 30 min, in which he returned to the phone a couple times, I hung up. I came to the realization that there was no supervisor, and that they know your not going to hold forever. Anyway, I called a csr and she was the nicest and most helpful person I have ever spoken with at *d. She rigged up the records to allow me to keep my old h20 until this magical fixed is downloaded. I just have to call back about once a week to see if it's ready. If anyone else has heard of this problem and are still reading this post, please let me know what you know about it. Thanks.
