Hi again I posted this on the DVR section to but since I'm dealing with HD... Can I put "cable" into the ota input on the back of my tivo? I figured out today that I can get my local HD channels thru cable, which I have for internet???

Too bad, I can get most of the cable channels, even digital with my tv. So I guess I'll still run it to the tv but wont be able to use the tivo, doh.

There are a few cable systems out there that send out the digital OTA channels in the clear using 8VSB modulation. If that is the case then the Tivo should be able to pick them up, correct?

In theory that should be true, as long as the PSIP header is also there.

It was strange when I hooked up the cable to the back I did a scan of channels. Most of the channel above 75 had multipath signals. 78-6, 88-9 and so on...
So in theory if I hook up the cable to the tivo will my unit blow up or just not work?
