I'm surprised no one has mentioned Peter Frampton.

Frampton is very underrated. I saw him on a PBS special a while ago. He is very good, much better than I ever realized.

I was just listening to a bunch of Zep. While Bonham had a unique style, and really halped Led Zep be what is was, he was by no means a great drummer, any more than Keith Richards is a great guitar player. Musicians like that added a style and identity to their bands that nobody could duplicate. But, neither is technically great at their respective instrument.

Now...Keith Moon was a great drummer, possibly the best Rock drummer ever. Roger Taylor is also amazing. I never realized it until watching videos of a bunch of Queen concerts recently. (Brian May is also in the hall of rock guitar gods.) Carl Palmer. Aynsley Dunbar. Bill Bruford. Ginger Baker. All great drummers.

BTW, Moon's replacement, Zack Starkey, unlike his father Ringo Star, has been an excellent replacement for Moon these last few years. I recommend viewing The Who at Royal Albert Hall (2000). It was Entwhistle's last gig on DVD, as far as I know.
