Very interesting article
That's Schmidt: So long to the Google chief who wasn't ? The Register
For six years, Larry Page and Sergey Brin told Eric Schmidt that Google should build its own browser, and for six years, he resisted.
"One day Larry and Sergey bought Android, and I didn’t even notice," Schmidt said in 2009.
"Sergey found Google Earth one day while he was surfing on the web. And then he walked into my office and told me he bought them."
... the decision to replace Schmidt as CEO is rooted in the first days of 2010, when Page and Brin decided to leave China – against Schmidt's wishes.

Those articles look more and more like orchestrated leaks instead of random thoughts tending to be on the negative side
News Desk: Why Is Eric Schmidt Stepping Down at Google? : The New Yorker
Schmidt started to think of departing. Nudged by a board-member friend and an outside advisor that he had to re-energize himself, he decided after Labor Day that he could reboot.
He couldn’t. By the end of the year, he was ready to jump on his own.
Just when the game was getting interesting in the phone/tablet market, the CEO post in two of the biggest players is getting "shaky"...

Next couple years can be very "stormy" in Google-land. And maybe not only Google...

A very interesting article-interview of Eric Schmidt
Google's Eric Schmidt predicts the future of computing - and he plans to be involved - Telegraph

It could be to downplay the consequences of the recent change at the top or simply a clarification of what the changes actually mean. Sounds reasonable.

Of course, nothing even close to the time and space bending magic sh!t of St. Jobs and his disciples, but for the rest that doesn't use 1984 as a bible replacement on the night table this might be an interesting read...
