I did a complete reinstall of my OS a while back and was unable to reinstall Google Desktop. I really missed the Floating Deskbar, or Floating Search Bar as I called it, which can be placed anywhere on your desktop. It was nice not having to open my browser or use the Address Bar in the Task Bar when doing an internet search. The gadgets that Windows 7 has for a replacement do not work well at all. I did like how if you had google desktop and did a google search in a browser, you could see your desktop items. It was a pretty slick setup. But that said, I don't think my W7 machine even has it installed. And with spotlight in OSX, I have been quite satisfied with the system's search capabilities.
