i screwed up and bought a 500+ lnb and saved 10bucks only to find the screwholes don't fit. is there anyway rig the 500+ to work with a superdish 121? or do i have to buy the repoint kit? thanks for any help you can offer.

You don't need to drill any holes. Take one of the bolts that hold the superdish LNB to the arm and put the 500+ LNB in it's place with the one bolt. You'll have to turn the dish just a hair to peak in on the 118.7.

A drill and a set of taps will do the trick. The taps create the new threads.

You don't have to drill anything! RCdallas gave you the best solution... discovered this myself a few months ago when warehouse gave me the wrong part....

The plastic part of the LNB is attached to metal portion (bracket part) by only 2 little screws, one on each side of the main "eye".... you can take the LNB off the bracket instead of taking the bracket off the "arm" of the old dish and mount it to the old bracket....the holes line up.

thanks to all for their input. rcdallas and tastim, i'll try that tonight!! rc dallas, when you say turn the dish, you mean the skew not the azimuth, right?

thanks again!!

just so you know: the arm for the superdish that comes with the 118.7 repoint is 1-1/2 inches shorter than the existing superdish arm.

if you have signal troubles, take the existing arm off and hack off that much (cleanly if possible). drill new holes, mount lnbs, aim, check switch, done.

not too difficult.

Shouldn't be a problem.... I've done this several times and haven't had a signal issue yet..... guess it depends on the footprint in your area though.

i guess my superdish 121 is too old. i saw the 2 bolts on the 500+ but there is nothing on the 121 lnb to screw into. i'll try topcat's hack off method after i get some tools at home depot. thx to all.

Is there a plastic shroud over the LNB? If so, that needs to come off first... the screws can only be seen from underneath the LNB....

All I ever did was take off the SD LNB down to the metal arm. If I remember right there is two 10mm bolts that hold the assembly in place.

I would take the 500+ LNB and put it on the metal arm, one of the existing holes would line up, I'd then take one of the bolts and use it in the hole.

The signal strengths were perfect.

Here's one that shows exactly what I'm talking about.

I've got quite a few sitting up there in Michigan just like this. No trouble calls.
