Just curious - on AMC-4 KUIL comes in at 86% solid, and I am not even pointed directly at AMC4 (dish is pointed at IA5). I was just curious, if the dish was set to AMC-4, how much more signal would I have?

you'd probably peg the meter

I was able to get KUIL at 75% with a smaller dish (DirecTv Phase II which is 24x20) on my Fortec :D

I havent heard of getting KUIL on IA5. I can pick it up sometimes when I'm on G4 or AMC1

That is a powerhouse! I should clarify - The strength I am getting is on the lnb that is strapped next to the IA5lnb. It appears - and this is my uneducated guess, that the oblong Primestar dishes are more suited for multiple lnbs due to their "width" vs a round or oval dish. Just a thought. But, I have several stations coming at at 86% from AMC-4. On the other hand I have a few that are in the 40's too :)

I forgot about the 2nd LNB.

Can you max the signal on the wekaer TP's? 3ABN & KUIL are strogn but some of the others are really weak

I am not sure. I only watch KUIL on AMC-4 so, wasn't too concerned :) I was just surprised how strong some signals were ;-)

true. If all you want is KUIL, then don't worry about repeaking. thats what I did. Got KUIL in, checked 3ABn and Hope Net and locked 'er down :)

I was floored when I added the AMC-4 lnb. All I did was hook the coax up, turn on receiver, look at little tv, place (hand held) lnb next to IA5lnb, and BOOM! 86%! I had to look several times as I could not believ it took 2 seconds and boom!

yep. I've done that a few times. When I added a DBS LNB to my Star Chocie dish for 119 I did the same thing...put it next to the LNB and got 75. Moved it a little away and bam 99 :)

I am not complaining, but it took some of the "fun" out of it. When I added IA7 to G10, it took a little while. I first was on the Pacifica - 127 or whatever it is and then had to redo it for IA7. Oh well, I am glad it went smooth!

Hi Iceberg i get 98% quality on all the TP on amc 4 with coolsat 5000 and geosatpro 1.2 meter dish

but do you have AMC4 aimed directly or is it relying on a bounce off the dish? IAFire has his dish at IA5 and AMC4 takes the bounce :)

I'm glad you two can get IA5 and AMC4 on the same dish with two LNBFs.

I have tried it twice by taking the receiver and tv out to the dish and no matter what I do I can't get a sniff of IA5. I even took the main LNBF off the dish because I thought the spacing might be to close. That way I could move the other LNBF closer to the center of the dish.

try and aim at IA5 with the main LNB and use AMC4 as the offset LNB. The signal on AMC4 is much stronger so there is some "play room" to get most of the programming on AMC4

I have my motorized dish go to it via usals no bounce

I would do as Ice suggests, aim at IA5. With a Fortec .3 Univ. LNB, the "eyes" (white part) are snugged up next to each other (touching). I am using a Primestar dish, but you could probably use a round or oval with no problems too.

I also get KUIL scanning two different sats. I don't remember which ones. Probably the same as you. I wasn't sure if it's just because of a strong signal, or that they chose to bcast from two sats. I guess it's the former.

I third that suggestion, for the reasons already stated, and the fact that IA5 has more transponders with FTA, and, therefore, a wider range of SQ. (Of course, in my situation, the IA5 LNB is also offset from the centre of the dish to allow better quality for the AMC3 LNB.)

Like you, I locked onto the stronger transponders very quickly with great SQ, however, peaking it for the weaker ones took more time, and I went through various configurations of brackets to tweak it to where I am, finally, pleased, and intend not to touch it again!
