Going Back To Dish Can I Skip The Visit?

Wow, me thinks some of you guys need to get up and walk outside once in awhile. :D

  1. I have absolutely no clue whether those are meaningful acronyms or not!
  2. That is much harder to type than just filling in "mistaken".
I immediately thought of my typing class in Jr. High back in the 50s. Put your fingers over the FDSA on the left hand and JKL; on the right hand. It is your starting point for keyboarding. I saw some of that in HipKat's post.

Yeah, I looked for the "home row" as well, since I've been a touch typist from HS. But the letters HipKat typed were not just the home row, but others as well. I would have trouble typing that quickly, and could type "idiotic" much faster. :D

Not to mention 'damnable!' :D

Perhaps you had a real batwing antenna like I did.

rv-2005.jpg

This one is the Winegard Sensar III RV antenna. I had an unamplified Sensar II and it worked great on the roof for years before the damnable plastic mount broke. It never did get Baltimore stations reliably, though, which is why I switched to the deep fringe antenna I reported above. I can now get all Washington stations at 100%, all Baltimore stations at near 100%, WMPT in Annapolis at near 100%, and even some Hagerstown stations with what the Hoppper reports as "fair" signal strength. Lots of dropouts on Hagerstown stations so "fair" is not really watchable.

I think the analog to digital transition didn't affect the problems you are seeing with the Terk, other than the issue many of us have encountered, which is that you could watch a snowy picture farther away than you can with ATSC where you might get little to nothing on your TV. IIRC they reduced the power for digital transmission, why I don't know.

Refresh my memory. Did you try running that antenna directly into a TV and have the same issues? If so, then it's not your AirTV adapter. Did you try taking that power injector out of the coax line, to see if there is any change? The amplified antennas I have used in the past basically don't work at all without power, i.e. the signal doesn't pass through the amp very well when it isn't on and working.

Assuming it's an HD program, the EHD program stream file is already MP4. Just saying.

Because of the damnable DMCA which IMHO goes way way too far. Taken literally, you can't even rip an owned DVD for your use elsewhere. :(

I had this happen once. Given those damnable non-skippable commercials, I decided to rent the DVD instead. :(

Wise man. If you have a Hopper, waiting a week will allow you to auto skip the damnable commercials.

As Zookster intimated, there's little science in this so-called SciFi program. But as a scientist, I have to say that very few "SciFi" movies or shows have much (if any) science. What I want is some acknowledgement of real science in my SciFi. It is permissible to go faster than light by appealing to the "warp drive". It is impermissible IMHO to go faster than light without even acknowledging that might be a problem. Don't even get me started on the Disney film, The Black Hole. God Almighty that was awful! I had to watch it through to the end just to see if it was really that bad. It was. Did you know that both heaven and hell are lurking in there? :eeek

I also must say most of the episodes of Debris do have a twist at the end (classic element of scifi), and there is all sorts of neat alien tech to ooh and aah over. ;) The hardware makes it hard SciFi, and the psychological elements make it soft SciFi a la Ray Bradbury. I am entertained, at least so far. Oh, and there is conspiracy. Both of the main protagonists work for different agencies, and both of their bosses are independently conspiring to do something we don't yet know what.

2 hours??? Your dealers are pushovers. Around these parts, you have to haggle for about 6 hours and in some cases more, before you can get the damnable salesman down to a reasonable price. I don't have the patience for that. When I leave the showroom, I keep walking.

Remember this series from the 70's? I really enjoyed the story, if not the lame special effects, spotty acting, and hilarious 70's hairdos. "Cordwainer Bird", aka Harlan Ellison, refused to be associated with this series once he saw what a butchery they made of his script. It had a criminally low budget with lots of obvious green screen work.

Roku recently released it for free on their channel. But alas, Roku forces you to watch 3 ads every 20 minutes or so. One of these ads was IMHO composed of damnable political lies about America's intellectual property. Really, Roku? I don't remember seeing such brazen lies in ads on TV before. I suffered through that ad once. But the second ad interregnum had the same loathsome ad 3 times in a row! Gag. Enough of the propaganda already. Does anybody know where I can complain to Roku about these ads?

I rented the DVD's from Netflix.

You mean like catching the damnable insidious coronavirus does? :eeek

It doesn't matter how healthy your son is now. What matters is whether he contracts the damnable insidious coronavirus because he wasn't vaccinated, and subsequently suffers severe illness or even dies from it. Yes, that can happen to 14yo's. Could you live with yourself were that to happen? I sure as hell couldn't if I had withheld my daughter's easy and free chance at immunity.

I attempted to add bluetooth to my sister's VW a few years ago... I tried so many of those damnable things I've lost count! Some were DOA, others had a very spotty FM link, and still others came through so fuzzy, I eventually gave up. Too bad because, for older cars (that VW was a 2000), you can add most of the functionality of a modern "infotainment" system, for very little money.

i am sure that would be very clever, if only I could figure out where it came from. :(
I wonder where it came from. I found three pages of posts where you used that term and selected just a few of them! :D

Haha! You are a master of the SG search. Wow. Yes, I do remember saying most of those things in other threads. And IMHO the word was well-deserved. :D But I'm glad you didn't come up with such a quote from this thread. If you had, I'd worry I was going senile. :crying

Just that damnable Bobby pulling your chain! Let me pour you a nice single malt…. :)

Tech dropped off box and usb stick while I did inside he was making sure signal good and existing dish had no issues. While I flashed the hopper. Back home I am! So much better than ATTTV.

Yay, finally back on topic! :heartbeat :thumbup I'm glad things worked out for you.

You can get off topic all you want. But if you want to spew politics, there is a place for that and this ain't it.
Was there anything political in my post? I am honestly confused again. :imconfused
