I have a M-2 package comming from Sadoun, should be here First part of the week.

I have a couple of questions to get me started.

I am at Longitude -81.8984 so my true south satellite will be 82 deg.

In Icebergs Strong transponder thread he has a transponder listed at 82 but it needs a lnb that will pick up DBS, 82 (Nimiq4)-12224 V 20000 (need a DBS LNB)

Will the Invacom QPH-031 LNB that comes in the M-2 package pick up this transponder or will I need to shoot for another satellite?

I have read a few post that stated that a newbie should start with a stationary setup for their first. Am I just asking for trouble trying to start out with the motorized system?

Thanks

Yes, the QPH-031 will pick up DBS. You'll have to make sure you are hooked to the C port for finding that nimiq satellite at 82*W. The other FTA sats you will use the L port.

They just kinda say it's easier to aquire one satellite for a newbie. If you have patience, you'll be just fine with a motor. There are alot of folks here that will guide you along. Don't be afraid to ask any questions you may have. There are no dumb questions. DBS satellites like the Nimiq one are more powerful and easier to find so, that's a plus for you. It might help to set aside any diseqc swith that comes with your system first and just hook straight to your receiver. This will eliminate any concern of the switch giving you problems getting quality. You can add the switch after you get your dish lined up.

Thanks boomer_106,

I am sure there will be some more questions, but this will get me started in the right direction.

Take care
