So here's my frustration with Directv but let me start by saying that the HD channels and picture quality I am getting are AWESOME...nevertheless my experience started by ordering service for an installation date set for the day before the NFL football Season began. I was told that locals in my area were coming October 15th and in the meantime to submit waivers and check back for out of market locals. A few days before installation I called and was surprised to find approval for ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS and pending for Fox. Problem was the installer that came out was a moron and couldnt install the new "heavier" dish required for HD so I told him to leave. I had a 2nd installer come out a month later and he did a great job. Right before he came I was told that my local channels would now be up on Nov 15th as they were delayed from Oc 15th. I verified that I had approved waivers from ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS and was told yes I still have those and that Fox is still pending but as soon as I activate service I should get approval for them as well........So here's where it gets infuriating...Service was installed and low and behold no approvals on waivers even though 2 different CSR's @ 2 different times told me I had them...as of now I only get CBS and NBC after fighting with them...They basically sold me a service that was misrepresented and now I have a very unhappy wife with no Oprah!!! :( (Not a good thing)....Now comes even worse news....Just 2 days ago (Nov 13th) A supervisor at Directv guaranteed me I will have locals on the 15th of November (give or take a day) and to call back on the 15th for a free HD reciever so I can get the locals which will only be broadcast in HD, I already have a HD-DVR but they said I get another for free. I call today and.........no locals and no date set for them..........yet another lie from Directv...I absolutely love all the channels and the HD goodness but without ABC and Fox I would have never gone through with the order .......

well....OTA can happen with a few of the stations but not very well as I am up in the foothills...my whole point was I moved from cable to Directv and I would not if I knew I woulkd not have ABC and Fox which they falsely claimed I got approved waivers for. I must say thta this has to be illegal business practice but I doubt I'll go through the trouble of a lawyer....btw it's Palm Springs, CA

D* is NOT the ones that determine if you can get the waviers for your networks, that is done at the individual station.

Sounds to me like you dont listen well, Dtv didn’t lie to you about what you would get because they don’t know till the waver comes back and that hardly constitutes a lie.

I think I agree based on the rambling explanation. I think the OP mis-heard, mis-understood what he was being told because he is not 110% how the process works and who controls it; as milkman and Jimbo said above me.

Both CSR's at two differnet times told me I had "approved" waivers from ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS and Fox's Waiver was still pending but that when I activate service they are sure it will be approved....then after the install I was told I did not have approved waivers.....how have I misunderstood??? Don't get me wrong I love Directv's picture quality and all but IMO I was purposelly lied to so I'd agree to get service and after installer finished his job and I was locked into a contract I find out I didnt have what was originally promised to me....Now I have to order cable again on top of Directv just to get locals...I will give Directv "some" credit though as they have given me 2 months of credit to my account for all my troubles. Trust me I know how the waiver process works...it is Directv's fault though to tell me a network approved my waivers when in fact they did not and then sing a different tune after installation.

Directv does provide false info sometimes when it comes to DNS approvels. Take my case for example Directv said I was eligible for ALL Fox ABC CBS and NBC on their website, untill I called Directv and they said I could only Have FOX,and No others. I was mad as well ,but what can you do! If Directv didn't provide you with locals ,they should have gave you NY or LA locals, without wavers. This is the first I've heard someone not getting DNS channels ,when D* isn't providing you your own local networks. What are you supposed to do ? Not have any locals? My local tv network WNEP 16,talked to Directv on the air ,about why we don't have our HD locals out of Wilkes-Barre Pa. D* has been telling its customers that the Wilkes-Barre area isn't set up for HD yet ,Other wise Directv would have my local HD channels right now. Well all these customers called the news station, and they Told everyone the truth that D* is the reason because of there lack of space on the satellites. But D* flat out lied, and the local people were heard and the WNEP 16 got right to the truth! My point I believe you when you said they approved you for DNS. Just another way for them to get you to sign.Directv got sued once already for giving false info"LIE" on local channels in North East PA.

Finally someone understands..lolz...well the waivers from the Fox & ABC networks out here were denied and of course it being "denied" isn't Directv's fault...what is their fault is telling me I already had approval for ABC and that Fox "was pending but I should have no problem gettin approval once service is started" when in fact I was denied waivers for both. Waiting til after install to tell me this is IMO highly illegal. Then the icing on the cake is having a "Supervisor" as well as 6-7 different CSR's tell me that the Palm Springs local channels will start on Directv on 11/15 only to find out on 11/15 that it will be at least Januray 15th before they are on. Crazy, Crazy stuff.....Well now I have cable and Directv lolz....The credits they gave me kinda make up for this but what a pain I have dealt with the last two weeks.

Dtv cant give LA/NY without wavers it's a federal law and Dvt submits the wavers but CSR's cant activate the services on your account the computer dose it when they get the approval back. However there are some local stations that will allow you to be temporarily pre-approved as long a the waver is sent, in that case CSR's can add locals right away then your local station decide if your eligible later.

People get turned down for DSN's daily BTW. LOL they don’t lie you just don’t pay attention. If there are no room for locals why are they adding HD locals a few every month? Really man that’s a bunch of BS as I know for a fact locals where added in HD this week and last week, and two weeks before that, its not that Dtv has no room that’s for sure.

What's your point? If there was all this free space ,then where's my HD locals?? What part is BS since it seems you have no idea about what your talking about. How many citys got HD locals in the last year? So if its not space ,What is it then? So your saying Robert Mercer Lied again? To the Scranton Wilkes-Barre area about their locals,on Live tv? Because all the info I gave came right from his mouth!

OK since your fairly new,I'll be a little easier on you,But there was a time when if D* didn't offer you home local channels,You would be able to get LA/NY DNS locals for a small fee for each channel. I'm not talking about people who have locals in their areas, that just want DNS channels for the hell of it. Now I don't know if that still applies today ,Maybe not. But if some doesn't have locals through D* then I guess their screwed ,according to you. But it never used to be that way!

BTW Dtv dose prioritize the markets so if there is a larger market than yours out there then you will be lower on the list than that market and as I stated I know for a fact Dtv added HD locals in other markets last week and a few weeks ago Im not speculating on that once again it’s a fact. They told you it’s a capacity issue because indirectly it is and because they didn’t want to say your market is less important then a larger one and you’ll have to wait. Point blank the room is there for some markets just not for yours yet.

Actually there were some smaller markets added before larger ones. I believe that Green Bay is one of them, maybe the only one. I suspect it had to do with the Packers.

Milkman...everything you are saying does not address my original post...Directv used illegal practices by telling me that my waivers for ABC, NBC, CBS and PBS were 'approved" and that Fox was pending but should have no problem being approved once I activate service....then once installed I found out ABC and Fox were actually "denied" and NEVER were approved. To top it off guaranteing me that on 11/15 my local market would have locals w/o waivers and then come the 15th no one knows anything about it. I found out through the local station that they wont be up til at least 1/15. Anyways for an example... If I was told my TV was HD and I bought it based upon that information and when I took it home I found out it wasnt but yet I agreed to a contract where I could not return it wouldnt that be fraud? Just sayin.......

Nevertheless besides that situation I am VERY happy with the HD channels...So I have mixed feelings on the Directv service....I woulndt recommend or not recommend their service based on my experience...I'm sitting on the fence..hehe

If the CSR's told him that he would be getting them, and he doesn't, I don't know if it's illegal, but it's dirty buisness.

How was he supposed to know how the process between DTV and the networks works?

It's DTV's fault.

Although temporarily "moving" might work.

Talk about dirty business,I called D* yesterday to ask about what promotions they are running for new customers, and D* tried to tell me that with D* HD access I would get every HD channel available. I said WHAT? She said for $25 dollars per month with E*,you can get more for $9.99 per month with D*. I said hold up. First off Thats a lie Flat out! Second, E* HD pack is $20,not 25 and you can receive 37 out of 38 HD channels with there $29.99 package. With D* your channel count goes buy your base package..SO i asked ,How many HD channels do I get with Dish family,70?? ,She goes " did you just call to tell me how great Dishnetwork is" I said no I just call to see if you would lie to an Existing cutomer of 5 years? I said have a good day !. I got a phone call not even 40 minutes later from CEO's office apoligizing up a storm. They just happend to tape my phone call,Which by the way they don't always do ,but can at anytime. He said they been working with the CSR's to give then the right info, but its a slow process. I was mad as well I told him,I called for a simple promotion Question and got an ear full of BS. So now I don't have to pay for HD for 1 year. Funny how this all worked out.Still Love you D* Keep giving me free stuff and I'll look the other way. But E* does the same thing with the bad mouthing,I just haven't caught them in a real lie yet.
