Can I get a 522 6.0 blue tabbed tuner 2 remote to work on tuner 1 of the 522? I tried to set the remote to the sat address for tuner 1 and enabled UHF Pro for tuner 1 but still cannot get it to work. Will it only work with the green UHF Pro tab for tuner 1? This would be great for single user mode using channel 3/4 in other rooms.

I believe you did everything you needed to, except you have to leave the tab turned so the blue 'UHF Pro' is showing. If you turn the tab over the UHF transmitter is disabled and the remote acts like a regular 5.0 IR.

Unfortunately, I no longer have my 522 where I did use two UHF pro remotes, but take a look at this post regarding programming. The procedure it describes seems correct to me.

I left the blue tab the way it came from the factory. It works fine on the second tuner if I program the sat address for it. I will have to see if the other 522 I have has the same results. Maybe I need to press the record button in the system info screen to recognize the UHF Pro remote?

When programming the remote hold the SAT button down when they all lite up enter the remote address then press the # button and then the record button. Make sure TV1 and TV2 are set to different addresses in the system info if you still want to run TV2. I believe when you are in the sytem info you will have to arrow up to the TV2 selection on the screen.

Here are the instructions for setting up a UHF remote for TV1:

NOTE: Steps 1 through 7 to be completed with your current TV1 (IR/Infrared) remote.

Go to the room where the 522 is, turn on the TV and TV1 tuner and, using your current TV1 (IR) remote, enter the following in order:

1. "Menu"
2. "System Setup" (#6)
3. "Installation" (#1)
4. "TV1 UHF Pro Setup" (#6)
5. Now go to the left side of the screen, highlight "Enable," and hit "Select" on your remote.
6. Now go back to the right ("System Info" should be highlighted) and hit "Select" on your remote.

You should now be looking at the "System Info" screen.

7. Press the "Up" button on your remote twice until the box next to "Primary Remote Address" is highlighted in yellow.

Now, grab your "TV2" UHF (blue bottom) remote and follow this procedure:

NOTE: All steps from here on will use the TV2 (UHF) remote.

1. Hold down the "Sat" button (upper left corner of the remote) for a few seconds until all four of the top buttons light up. When they all light up, release the "Sat" button.

The Sat button should now be flashing.

2. Enter a number on the keypad of the remote. In can be any number between 1 and 16 but it MUST be different than the number that's in the lower box (next to "Secondary Remote Address"). If you do try to enter the same number, you will be prompted that it isn't allowed.
3. After entering your number, press the pound/search key "#" (lower right corner). Wait a second. The "Sat" button (upper left corner) should flash three times.
4. After the Sat button has finished flashing, press the "Record" button on the remote (near the middle, under the "Pause" button). The yellow box should now display the number you entered in step #2.
5. Press the "Down" button on the remote two times until "Done" is highlighted.
6. Press "Select" on the remote.

You are now controlling TV1 of your 522 with a UHF remote. Enjoy!

I had my 522 in single user mode all along while trying to do this (had it in single user mode for a little while now). I did everything stated above except I did not hit record, I just programmed the UHF REMOTE #2 remote to what it states in the system info screen for tuner #1.

Tonight before reading this post I did what you stated above to make it work and it worked. The reason why I decided to do this now more than ever is due to the fact that two different green #1 IR Remotes for the 522 just would not operate it that well in the same room. The UHF remote works it much better.

I had assumed that the blue remote had to be programmed for tuner #1 to operate it but that is not the case. By enabling UHF Pro remote to be used for tuner #1 that would allow the UHF Pro remote for tuner #2 (or the optional purchased green UHF Pro key) to work the first tuner. I decided to keep the same remote address that I did have for tuner #2 all along. No sat address ended up changing, I just had to press record after enabling the UHF Pro feature in the menu. The green remote still works tuner #1 as well.

So what does this mean if I want to go to dual user mode? That my blue UHF Pro remote #2 will still also operate tuner #1 interfering with the person watching off of that tuner? Does UHF Pro for tuner 1 only work in single user mode? Or would I have to disable UHF Pro for tuner 1 in order to get it to work only tuner #2 in dual user mode then if I wanted to use the blue UHF Pro tuner 2 remote again for tuner 1 I would have to enable UHF Pro for tuner 1 again?

Wow, what a different beast this is to setup the remotes than the legacy remotes on the single tv output receivers.

Also will the 942 remotes work on this 522 if I wanted to get extended range and operate two receivers from the one remote?

Be sure to set both remotes to different addresses. If you don't when you are in dual mode you will be controlling both tuners with both remotes.

It doesn't matter that both remotes are set to different remote addresses when in Single mode as both remotes will control the receiver, once in dual mode each remote will only control its OWN tuner.

So pull up the system information screen again highlight TV1 output, then Hold down the sat mode button on the Remote for TV1 input a different remote address press "#" then press the record button.

You will then be able to use either remote when in Single mode, when in Dual mode each remote will only control its own tuner.

I think that they should have the blue UHF Pro 6.0 remote control tuner 1 (having UHF Pro for tuner 1 enabled) by default from the factory to make it very simple and to prevent confusion for customers.

I do have two different remote addresses programmed I just did not know how this worked on these dual tuner receivers with two tv outputs. It is nice that they thought of this flexibility when making these receivers though.

With the 942 remotes that can operate two separate satellite receivers which have different sat addresses, does the extended range possible because of the remote or is that allowed because of the 942 receiver?
