Why on earth would it cost $2000 list? What makes it different from all of the others, in the $400 - $700 range?

I was wondering the same thing Rocky. I don't have much interest in GPS but I stumbled across that one today looking for other stuff and said WOW that's a heck of a markdown and figured I'd at least share the info.

Yeah, it just seems suspect. I have a Garmin eTrex Vista Cx, one of the color hiking ones, and it was $300. My sister bought my parents one of the car ones and only spent $400. For $2000 I'd want a Trimble that was accurate to 1 meter, or the like...

But I love GPS - use it hiking; cross-country skiing; geocaching; use a different one running, bike riding. Its great fun.

saves hours of getting lost, having lived in pittsburgh nearly my entire life I have seen so many new places I didnt know existed....

the 2230s street price is under 400 bucks and excellent, I just want directions not music playing and other stuff, the radio works fine for traffic alerts, although mine can acess that i havent bothered.

Since some of my travels are in the inner city, the small size minimizes theft risk. I always put it away before arriving at my exact destination, and dont use that adhesive disc for mounting, which mark the vehicle for theft

Smart. I do the same with ipod cassette adapter. Remove it before I park the car somewhere; don't want to leave it out to suggest - maybe there is something to steal in this car! :)
