I finally got to see what G17 would do for quality wise over SBS6...well watching ONN today I can see that.

Had the signal screen up for almost 5 minutes and the thing hasnt even blinked off 99 :)

I noticed the V side seems to be better too. Here in Minnesota we had issues on the V side. Hopefully when they put H2 there and move G17 the signal stays the same :)

I forgot all about this. Now I gotta go try.

edit:

Good lord, that is a big difference. I am getting an almost pegged meter and I am partially covered by foliage right now (dang summer growth cuts down my eastern side)

FCC authorization for SBS 6 at 73.95 degrees West

The FCC has approved Panamsat's request to operate SBS 6 at 73.95 degrees West for a period of 180 days commencing on August 7, 2007.

This means SBS 6 and Galaxy 17 are essentially co-located at 74 degrees West.

So it is possible that some signals could be using SBS 6 still.

I am guessing that Panamsat is keeping SBS 6 around in case they have to move Galaxy 17 before Horizons 2 is ready. But who knows.

SBS6 never was that high here in MN for ONN...always aorund 67-69 on the Coolsat and 65-70 on the Pansat...now its 85 on Coolsat (max) and 99 on the Pansat. ONN is as high on the quality meter as the DBS stuff is :)

I'm seeing a big increase in signal quality here in California as well. Galaxy 17 is a huge improvement over SBS 6.

11741 H 6616 is also still coming in strong. I'm guessing that's the original signal still on SB6? Its a good night for reception, I'm actually getting AMC6 with just the occasional chirp.

Both still good here for me. It takes a moment before anything appears for some reason (a few channels are like that in FTA for some odd reason???), but then its in the 80's for both TP's. Exact same signal level for both here.

My Broadlogic Spectrum Analyzer shows only one signal at 11733 H. There is no signal at 11741 H. I think your Fortec receiver is able to tune in the signal even when the frequency is off. It takes longer to tune because it's searching nearby frequencies apparently.
