The Boilermaker State (#19)
I am beginning to think that G 17 has replaced G11. I say this because a certain channel is coming in about 20 digits higher on the signal meter with no tiling or breakup. In the past this certain channel has been a pain to watch. The supreme test will be be if RSTN (Royals baseball net) is on this season at the same location, as it has been in the past. Last season the signal was very poor.

Nope, Galaxy 17 is still at 74 degrees West. Horizons 2 is also there. Horizons 2 should take over at 74 degrees soon. Then Galaxy 17 can move to 91 degrees West and replace Galaxy 11.

Guess it doesn't matter now, that channel just went south. Not encrytped, just lost the signal.

Thanks for the info.

NORAD, that's a term I have heard in years. When I was in the AF I had to call them every night.

Thes Traxis 3500 has a lot of room to edit in the channels names. What I have done is list the channels with the 922 satellite name then have a slash with the real satellite name. This seems to help when I come across one I have no idea what it is.

That is a danged good idea there, Jim. I am having a BEAR of a time remembering the nonclemature for the 922 vs. the real names....what I don't understand is why GI/Motorola doesn't rename them, heck the receiver IS updateable, isn't it?

I came up with the idea on the Satworks because I couldn't remember what channel was on what satellite. It only had room for 7 characters so space was limited. The Traxis has plenty of room for characters so I figured the space is there, might as well use it. See........I am good for something besides finding 148. ;)

Yes...the 922 is updatedable, Motorola won't do it. They are suppose to send updates via signal every night. The only thing I ever see updated is the guide, and that's not a gimme. There is a 232 cable port on the back just like the Traxis and the Quali TV, but I have no idea where you would get the information from. May Iceberg knows, how 'bout it Tony.

4DTV isn't my forte ;)

But I know of a few people who renamed all their satellites in the FTA box to be the same as the 4DTV slots

My problem is when someone posts an event on something like G23, G13, AMC 11, I have to drag out Ice's satellite list to find out which one it is on the 922. So what I have done is store something on the Traxis from each of these bastard satellites. For instance, Cox Sports is on G23, on the 922 G23 is T7, so I have it entered in the Traxis as COX SPORTS T7/G23. I know that Cox Sports is encrypted but it is ITC every now and then. So when I see some thing I don't remember, I just scroll down the Traxis list until I come across it. I don't have any problems with the satellites we use everyday, it's just the off the wall ones. This also helps in the area when the 922 does not have an icon for a satellite such as AMC 15. I have the testcard entered into the Traxis labled as AMC15/KC. This works for me.;)

Thats a good idea Jim. I might label some of the sats on the Pansat as
AMC16 85
AMC15 105
H2 74
etc :)

I use the following format so the satellites show up in order by location.

72 AMC 6
74 SBS 6 (Yes I know the name should be G17 :D .......)
79 AMC 5
89 Galaxy 28
91 Galaxy 11
123 Galaxy 10R

For C-Band:

C 91 Galaxy 11
C 95 Galaxy 3C
C 97 Galaxy 25

In my Pansat, I started out naming them with

123 G10/Ku
123a G10/C

For the ones with less than two numbers in their location,
087 AMC3/W3/Ku
087a AMC/W3/C

For
091 G11/XB/ku
091a G11/GB/C
091c Nimiq1/Ku

The numbering system keeps them all in line in the receiver and lists them from West to East to make it easy to find something.

Course I have been using the same channel list since I started, and have continuously updated it since the beginning.

Channel Master is a wonderful tool. :)

Looks like Galaxy 17 will be moved rather quickly as I just saw a filing to move Galaxy 11 to help with Intelsat 802's solar panel issue.
