FyreTV Reviews (Please Read)

Got the box, plugged it in, watching porn. No assembly required, batteries included, this is a beta? MS's final releases don't work this well.

Can't imagine how it will get better, but I suspect it will.

Congrats and Thanks.

The >> and << buttons work quite well with each press increasing the speed, pressing the play button returns to normal just like a DVD. Easy to skip over the un-needed parts.

Not what I'm talking about. I don't want to fast forward, I want to skip forward (and back). Just like I do on my DVR. :)

Hit the Pub Section and read some of the reviews.

Tonite I have noticed an audio delay of a few seconds when a scene starts.
When searching thru studios, titles, or new releases it would be nice if you could scroll in either direction when at first or last title.
OK I know I said I would not complain about content, but we were promised 40 new titles a day...

So far all in all I am very impressed, but need to see how it works with more titles and more users.

Would also like to see 'E' reply to our suggestions a couple of times a week, preferably in his own thread locked to all but him and Scott.

If you receive a "Warning! Error - server timeout" message it is probably due to a loss of network connection or network connectivity issue. To resolve this issue follow the below steps. If the below steps do not resolve the issue please contact FyreTV directly at beta@fyretv.com

1) Remove the power from the DSL / Cable modem and or the router if present and leave everything unplugged for 5 seconds

2) Remove the Ethernet cable and power cord from the back of the FyreTV Boxxx

3) Plug in the modem and allow it to reconfigure itself (wait for modem to reconfigure before proceeding to step 4 if necessary)

4) Plug in the router if present and allow it to reconfigure itself

5) Plug the Ethernet cable into the back of the FyreTV Boxxx

6) Plug the power cord into the back of the FyreTV Boxxx, wait 5 seconds and turn on the FyreTV Boxxx.

0000000 worked for me. The only deal is loggin on to the website, I cant do. Dont know why.
As of now the online user accounts have not been activated. We are still integrating the online user accounts into the majority of the FyreTV services. Once the integration is complete we will begin asking our Master-BETA testers to begin accessing their accounts.

I know a lot of you guys are upset that the FyreTV official forums are not open yet, but please remember YOU GOT YOUR BOX BEFORE THE REST OF THE BETA TESTERS BECASUE YOUR SATELLITEGUYS MEMBERS!

The receivers were ready but the backend stuff like the forum was not ready, a number of members here were upset they have not got their box yet. Estefano and the FyreTV guys bit the bullet and sent the receivers out to SatelliteGuys members before they were actually ready to support everything.

Again thanks to FyreTV for letting our members be the first anywhere to experiance FyreTV!

Also I should note that Estefano has made an offer to any SatelliteGuys member / FyreTV beta tester who joins us as a Pub Member for $20 for a year will get a $20 credit with FyreTV when the real non beta service goes live. (FyreTV is paying your pub membership which in turn helps keep the lights on here at SatelliteGuys! PLEASE take advantage of this offer!)

If you wish to take advantage of this offer please CLICK HERE and then once you are done please pm me with your receipt number and I will then forward your name to Estefano who will credit your FyreTV account. This offer is only good for new SatelliteGuys Pub Members since 3/4/08.

Thank you for your support, next week we will be adding our new server into the mix, the cost of buying a server (with dual Quad Core Xeons and a Raid 10 setup) plus the cost for server space, electricity and bandwidth is not cheap. So if you like what you see here at SatelliteGuys and also like what your seeing from FyreTV, please become a a supporting Pub Member today. :)

Thanks for your support!

Just found 2 more movies with no audio.
Search box should include number of movies or scenes. IE Combat Zone (1). MOVIE
mISS pIGGY (12) SCENES.
Ch buttons should work as page up and down for long lists in search (star search).
When searching I pick on what I want to look at IE Star search scroll thru and find Miss Piggy (ok trying to keep this family friendly) Click on her, decide I don't like any of her scenes. When I go back search should be at Miss Piggy I should not have to restart.
On first page of movie where we can play entire movie, should have complete cast list not just first scene, Then do scene by scene list as each scene is chosen.

Wow. Awesome!

Got my boxxx yesterday and setup today.

So far...

- While I needed no info on setting it up, some info on what the remote buttons do would have been nice.
- I could not tell the box was on unless I looked close. The lights on the front are very small (may be good, may be bad)
- the remote is very sensitive and needs to be held almost directly in front to be seen.
- My network is static and after setting it up, I went to test it and got the message that that part was not currently enabled - AND it then deleted all my settings, I had to re-enter them. It would have been nice to have left them.
- The first movie I tried to play had no sound. I started to troubleshoot it but remembered others saying the same, so I tried another movie and it had sound.
- between movie 1 and movie 2, the boxxx slowed down and would not reply to remote commands except every now and then. This lasted about 2 minutes and as I was going to reboot it, it started doing okay.

- Used DVD quality and it played fine without any trouble using a wireless bridge connected to a router to feed the boxxx.

sadly my remote seems dead out of the box, I have tried different batteries, different combos of putting them in the remote and nothing seems to work. I get no activity on what im guessing is the led under the power button. The box boots up ok and asks for a pin but i cant do anything with a dead remote. :(

So far so good-- was about a 10 minute install using component cables (Surprised that HDMI cables were included but no component cables. Seems like an odd choice for a non-hd settop box) on a 26" HDTV. Picture shows in 480P, and loads fast. The navagation of the titles is tricky and non-intuative IMO. Can't get any of the featured titles on the main screen to load, either.

The only way I've gotten video is to hit the VOD button. There's nothing on the menus that get me video, including the TV guide part. Also, I've noticed that I can only change the listing type (Studio, genre, title, etc) at the top if I change it immediately after hitting VOD and before the page fully loads-- anyone else experience this, or am I missing something on the remote?

So far, the best way I've found to navigate is to go to title search (by quickly selecting it before the page loads after hitting VOD button), then one the page loads, go back UP to the search bar, leave it blank and hit ok-- then lets you scroll thru 120 titles. I assume that's all that's online so far.

The unit did freeze up on me once, and had to power cycle. It also lost the server for about an hour on Friday around 11:30AM CST for about 25 minutes or so. No server of course, means no content. But this is what the testing phase is all about I presume. The box did recover by itself a while later with no reboot needed.

Anyone discovered any navigation tricks or anything yet? Other than listed above, it appears the Diamond button on the right under the cursor keys takes you back one screen on most pages.

I take that back I think the IR receiver in the box is no good. I checked the remote with a digicam and a camera phone and i can see the IR light coming from the remote. Did anybody else have a problem getting the remote working?

Wireless ethernet???

I'm eagerly awaiting my FyreTV box as a BETA tester. Is it possible to connect the box to my router wirelessly? Or should I go with the hardwired ethernet. Any advise would be great!

Joker-- that depends on your wireless speed. it is possible, but you may not get enough speed to be happy with the service depedning on your setup. I'd definitely say it's worth a try if you have an access point nearby, since the Fyre box doesn't have WiFi built in.

Fill screen to prevent burn in on a plasma.
