Full scan or not to full scan

It seems that when I am blind scanning a sat usually once I get in the 40 percent range I dont pick anything else up, and I notice that my signal strength usually begins to drop quickly at about this point. Now I have let it go and do the full scan several times but I never got anything else so now I usually quit the scan once the signal begins to drop, am I taking a chance on missing anything?

your receiver might be trying to scan the entire lband, there really isnt any need todo this. in NA you wont find any linear freq above 12200 so set that as the max freq to scan.

I know on the Visionsat the defaults for blind scan is 10700-12900 which is the whole KU band. Too bad we only really use 11700-12200.

I have a part two to my question, I know that the LNB low is 10750 but what about the high. If I put it on 10600 it starts scanning at I think 11700 but if I set it to 11000 it starts in the 12000's. I'm still able to scan in the sats but the frequencies might be different depending on where I set the LNB high. For example I can scan in a channel on freq 11950 with the High set at 10750 but if I change the High to 11800 that same channel will now come in at 12250, I'm just using these numbers as an example. Lately I have just been leaving it on 10750.

most receivers when they do a blind scan actually scans the IF frequency, which is between 950-2150 and added to the LNB LO frequency.

So when your LNB LO is 10750 for a standard, it will scan frequencies 11700-12200 or 12350 depending on the box. (950-1600 IF frequency)

When the Pansats scan, they show the IF in the corner going from 950-2150 UNLESS you use a KU standard LNB..then they stop at 1600 (which is 12350...again do the math)

C-Band is 5150 minus the IF frequency. So 4000 is IF frequency 1150 (5150-1150)

so you can put the LNB LO at whatever you want and it will scan. I've picked up C-Band on the KU frequencies if I have the LNB LO wrong.

If you're using a standard, leave the LNB LO's at 10750 (both low and high)

I have it on Universal, Viewsat using Primestar LNB and dish. The LNB is the single output type both H and V. Thanks for the help, will check back tomorrow 5:30 comes quick

its defn important to get the lof/h correct or you could possibly be missing channels.

With the Primestar LNB, the L.O. (Local Oscillator) frequency is 10750. It is a standard, not universal, LNB.

yep the stock LNB is 10750 for both low and high (if your receiver needs 2 LNB LO's)
