I finally re-installed my FTA system after moving quite some time ago. I mounted the system on my room and everything looks plumb abd straight. My problem is that my motor doesn't want to turn the Sat. I can move the Sat using the Diseq but the motor doesn't seem to want to move to other Sats when scanning. It's a Geosat Pro GS-120 motor. Is there something I'm forgetting to do? It has been a while since I've had the system set up. Thanks!!

you mean assign 5 satellites to scan, scan 1 move the the 2nd, scan 2nd, move to the 3rd, scan 3rd, etc ?

I know the fortec mercury II supports this, I dont know about coolsat 4000 or 5000 though. (thats whats in your sig so I assume thats what your using)

I use USALS but it seems like the dish will only move if I inch it along with diseq. It's weird, I can't scan with it. The motor won't move when I try to scan.

I have the Coolsat 5000 and it will scan like that as well. Are you using diseqc1.2 or Usals? I use only Usals but I think it should work using either.

I can only move the dish through the diseq. I't wont scan under USALS or any other method. Perhaps the motor has bitten the dust

Will either of your receivers move the dish? I'd try the other one as the "master stb" , and see if it works , or not. Some clue may turn up in the process. We can only hope ! :)

Under USAL's, you have to have the Latitude/Longitude set for your location, for it to work...? I'm not sure what you mean by "I't wont scan under USALS", but when your Latitude and Longitude are set, it should move to the chosen satellite when you click for it....? At least it should after you set it up? Also the Zero has to be set for True South....? That's not necessarily your true south satellite, but it could be close...?

I've put in all of the coordinates just like I did at my other house. However, the dish will not move when I try to do a scan of Sats. The only way I can move the dish is when I nudge the Sat dish using the diseq mover. I have no idea why it won't move during a scan. Perhaps the motor is blown in some respect. That's all I can think of.

This does not sound like a motor issue..... If the motor moves using DiSEqC 1.2, there should be no reason that USALS DiSEqC mode shouldn't function. The circuitry that handles the DiSEqC commands is used for the USALS. The basic difference between the two types of DiSEqC commands is that 1.2 position is stored in the motor and USALS position is calculated and issued from the receiver.

Does the motor move with USALS when not in the SCAN mode? Is your receiver issuing commands in the USALS mode? (Watch the led indicator on the motor when the command is sent from he receiver. Does it flash orange as the receiver issues the USALS (DiSEqC) command?

I would suggest performing a reset on the receiver and the motor. Check the motor operation with a temporary coax cable.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try it on the weekend.
