This may be a dumb question but I have a coolsat 8000 that I picked up cheap. It was cheaper than a reg def system. Problem is is that I cant seem to find any HD channels except pbs. So I cant seem to see what the big deal is about fta HD. Unless I am needing a cband system to slave to get these channels.

You are correct that the only Ku band HD, regularly scheduled is PBS on AMC3 . The rest of the Ku HD stuff is intermittent stuff, special events , sports feeds, etc. We have to blindscan the various satellites to identify the "hot " tp's . It's a little bit of work, but this is a hobby, after all.

Yep, PBSHD is well worth it.. But blind scanning isnt too hard with a motor. Thats why I have my pansat.
