FTA HD receiver question

I am looking to buy the Viewsat 9000HD receiver. One of the sellers with whom I've communicated mentioned a PSK adapter module that has to be attached to the HD receiver.

I wanted to know if I dont get the PSK adapter module, will the Viewsat 9000HD receiver be reduced to a regular non-HD receiver?

How many HD channels will I receive once I buy the FTA receiver without the PSX adapter? I currently have the Dish Family pack and one of the international packages.

you can not use the viewsat to receive dishnet, they wont let you

If you're a sports fan you will find alot of HD feeds of different sports. There are also some occasional network HD feeds

None of the Viewsat receivers can be used for dish network service? Or is it just for the Viewsat HD9000?

no fta receiver at all. expressvu and dishnet only allow their own ird's to be used.

Your equipment dealer is probably selling hacked equipment, which is illegal. Dish Network can only be received legally using Dish receivers. FTA is not receiving Dish Network, it is receiving signals that are unencrypted from various satellites in space.

Thanks for the heads up guys. As you can tell, I'm a total FTA/dish newbie and was looking at the FTAs listed under "dish network"at ebay.com. Guess I'll save myself those receiver bucks
