If it is okay with the mods....if you are looking for a good Pansat dealer then I can say emantechnology.com is very good. I bought my first digital reciever, a Pansat 330a, from them a few years ago. Since this was my first digital receiver, I was having a problem getting any of the birds but I called their tech guy and he had me on T5 (now IA5) in just a couple minutes. So I think their service is good also.
These guys have been around at least 4-5 years so they are not some fly-by-night dealer trying to make hack money. They are located in Wichita, KS.

Scott, new site sponser?

Technojunky, this is all I can find on FTA-DIrect:

My credit card said that if they have terms that they did not honor, I can cancel the order. The terms that they did not honor are quoted below, just as someone else pointed out already. i didn't know they were not in the U.S., i would have prefered to deal with a U.S. business.
In any case, it is in the credit card companies hands now.

www.ftadirect.com quote"
- All of the products you see listed on our website that are orderable are typically in stock and ready to ship. If for some reason the item you ordered is out of stock, we would notify you immediately. Orders usually ship within one business day (unless they are a presell item which are clearly marked)."

The Pansat 2700a is not marked as a presell item.

I bought my first system from www.sadoun.com , and while they do their best to help newbs buy the right stuff, I had my reservations about how it was going at first. Today, they delivered something that they said they would send, something that may have been my fault for not ordering, yet they went the extra mile and sent it. I got a feel for how sadoun does business, and I can honestly say that I wish I lived close enough to shop there all the time. When you shop on their web site, read the notes on what you are ordering, read the side notes that tell you that you have to order the free gifts, or you won't get them. They ship fast and never sell anything they don't have. Save yourself some grief and stick to the proven businesses. Anyone can be a sponsor with a little green. Nobody is saying that every sponsor of this site is a good place to shop. Are they?

Tux, i couldn't agree with you more. I have made two purchaes with Sadoun and the service and shipping was excellent. I will go out on a limb and say these guys are here to serve the REAL FTA community. :)

When I first decided to get into FTA, I called FTA Direct and spoke with the person who answered the phone. I also called several other places to get a feel for the dealers. I won't say why I decided not to go with someone, but I will say that I decided to use Jimmy at dvbhardware.com. When I bought my sytem, I received it in 3 days, and that's from Rhode Island to California! I just ordered a new Invacom LNB today and I'm guaranteed to have it by Friday! Plus, he's the kind of guy that gives personal service and answers the phone at all hours of the day. A class act in my book, especially for the newbie. Combine him with the great guys at this forum and you have a winning combination!

I would like to second that positive experience with Emantechnology. I actually bought my Coship off of eBay and Thomas at Emantech still helped me out over the phone. I bought my sat finder and angle meter from them as a thank you and was given A+ service!

I'm in no way defending FTA Direct as I haven't had any dealing with them, but right now the hackers have thrown the supply down and the demand WAY up on many of the newer recievers.

I bought a 3500s off of a guy on ebay. He's getting a ton of negative feedback right now for the same reason. He's selling receivers that he doesn't have. I paid for my reciever on 9/2 and if I'm lucky it'll ship out from him this friday, 9/16. That's two full weeks he had cash in hand and he never had the product. On the plus side when I called and talked to him he was straight forward about it and offered a refund if I didn't want to wait.

His response to the negative feedback is kind of funny though:

"give us a negative feedback we will send your info to dish network. UNDERSTAND"

I blame myself for this one - I had the EXACT same problem when I bought my CoolSat on ebay. I should have learned!

I wish Sadoun was a PanSat dealer!

I was lucky to find the 3500s locally in Los Angeles back on Sept 2 "cash and carry". I tried calling the same seller a few days ago to buy one more for my office, and now he will only ship it and the price went much higher then the $150.00 i paid out the door.

Does suck bigtime for you to wait soooo long pal..

In reading the "Will hackers ruin it....." thread, it makes me wonder if FTA Direct has been getting moron script kiddies and crackers calling up and asking for their money back since they cannot watch pay TV for free anymore. If D* Net has put them in the dark, they could be a little miffed that they actually have to pay for what the rest of us with "18 inchers" do.

--start mini rant--
As an aside, I think it is important to make the point that those who steal pay television are not, in any way, shape, or form, hackers. Hackers play with technology. They tear things apart and put things back together. If they make the gizmo better after they tear it apart, it's a bonus. If a guy runs down the street and steals a purse from a lady's shoulder, he is not a "purse hacker". He is what he is; A CRIMINAL!!! As one who has been noodling with widgets and gizmos for years on a shoestring budget, I consider myself a hacker in the way that the term was originally intended. I am sure that there are plenty of you out there that fall into the same category. I avoid associating myself with "L337 hax0rs" because they are usually a bunch of punks that are trying to get sometihng for nothing. I'm sure that I am not the only one around here with a copy of 2600 magazine on my desk right now
--end mini rant--

Sorry about the outburst. My intention is not to offend or alienate anyone, but those who hack will tell you they don't want to be associated with those who engage in criminal activities. They want to learn and grow intellectually and improve their technical aptitude. It isn't about breaking the rules

My $.02

Hantu, I have to agree with your mini rant. I'm a "kernel hacker" but by NO means am I trying to steal anything or break into anything (those unfamiliar with that term, look up the Linux Kernel Hacker's Guide). It means I play around in the mountain of Linux kernel sources on my own systems, to personalize it to my tastes. Or more importantly, it's so I can learn. In fact, just last night I was working on some Linux DVB stuff to improve support for FTA cards (I'll share my experiences on here and wherever else appropriate when I'm finished). Greatly fun stuff to get involved in. But I have never been interested in getting into other systems, or getting anything illegally. Those who know me personally know I'm more "by the books" than most people.

Hello.
Yes, we are swamped right now with hackers tying up the lines asking stupid questions.
Yes, we do have ALL PRODUCTS in stock and are 1 day behind in shipping.
I have many customers saying they cannot get through, and we are truly doing our best.
Allison is on live chat on our site working her you know what off.
If you have any questions about our site, let me know via pm.
thanks
Rob

Reading these posts is a little upsetting. I give my props to Sadoun for being the big kid on the block, but what i dont like is when people post slamming us when they truly havent given us a chance to help
Sure there are a few bad apple customers (none that have posted here of course) but when people assume how things are run, it just isnt fair.
It is insane right now because of current events.
Again, we have just hired 3 new staff to help with phones, but it truly doesnt seem to be helping, as we are that busy.
I do apologize to anyone who may have been trying to get through, but all i can say is use the live chat feature on our site.. as you wont get a busy signal.
Again, pm me if you wish
thank you :)

And just as quick as it starts it will end. Dish network will find a way to ecm all those boxs with the illegal bin uploads and that will be the end of that. If I was them I would release a hack of my own system and wait a couple weeks until everyone is watching for free and then I would activate a trojan that I hid in the firmware to fry all the boxes that were watching illegally. I'm not a tekkie when it comes to encryption but I would imagine if they upload a file to there box then there would be a way to slip a little nasty into the uploaded file. :)

Anyway, as it always happens with this stuff the big boys will find a way to circumvent it and then the people that bought the boxes just to try to save some money on a satellite bill will be out of luck. Would of just been better to pay for the subscription anyway. I want one of the pansats just for the blindsearch feature but will have to wait until they are available again.

On a side note.. we ONLY ship to a address that is on file with a credit card to help prevent fraud. I dont see how this can be a hassle as we are protecting the customer.

very good idea :)

Still no tracking number, and they don't have any note about me canceling this order either. Maybe they do ship in one day, but only if they have stock. they still show stock on this 2700a. I read some reviews on the FTAdirect web site, is the Viewsat really as good as they say it is? I know that the Coolsat pro 400 is hot, so hot that they can't keep them on the shelf. I haven't heard anything about Viewsat and nobody every mentioned them here. What's up with that?
