Hi,
I'm a newbie and learning thru reading through this sites posts. Last week while on vacation I setup my system which includes a CoolSat 4000 plus and a SG2100 motor. I adjusted the motor's latitude, elevation, and azimuth as well as the dish's elevation per the motor's manual. I used 15.7 degrees as my magnetic inclination angle for my true south adjustment - followed instructions per invitros thread.

After scanning for different satellites I captured PAS9 with a quality level in the seventies as well as an unknown bird, possibly Echostar 3 - I'm assuming that it is an EchoStar satellite encryption is Nagravision and the bird is close to PAS9. Capturing these 2 satellites leads me to believe that my latitude, azimuth, and elevations are correct, however, I'm unable to find AMC3,AMC4, and Telstar 5. I don't believe that trees are affecting my reception. Any suggestions? (I'm using PAS9 as a reference and I believe this satellite is approximate 161 degrees.)

Welcome to Satelliteguys forums :)

If you're hitting 2 birds close together your setup could still be off by a wide margin.
First thing you should check is that the mount is square and plumb all the way around.
Double-check your numbers and calculations, something's definitely amiss.

Can you hit any other sats apart from PAS9/E3?

Thanks for responding! I'll check my numbers - my true south number of 15.7 degrees could be in error. Presently, I'm setting my true south calculation as follows:180+15.7 = 195.7. Could anyone verify that a positive 15.7 degrees is the correct angle for the North Dartmouth, Mass area.

No, I do not appear to be capturing anyother satellite signals - I do see the
signal fluctuate as the dish moves east to west - no satellite is captured when I perform a blind search relative to the highest signal strength.

Thanks

Yes its Plus +16 deg.

Update - adjusted the elevation of the dish by approximately 2 degrees to ~28 degrees. I no longer get PAS9 and Echostar3 but do receive AMC5 (better). I guess I need to adjust the endpoints ( far east and far west satellite) and hopefully all others
will be aligned with the arc.
