FSTV on 123W?

Also, I noticed everything on 125W has lost major signal. I would suspect something moved, but as everything from 30W to most the channels on 123W (besides FSTV?) are at their regular strength -- I'd hate to start tinkering with the dish if it isn't my fault ;) What are other people's readings on the 125W Ku-band transponders? Strong as normal?

For Ku, 123/125 seem to have the biggest "problems". In my experience helping out customers and messing around with these birds myself I've found the issue tends to be the operator, no offense to anyone.

FSTV on their original TP and their "new" one has always been difficult. At least on a Ku size dish you have to be aimed quite precisely to get it stable. It is not a fat, strong signal to start with.

Same seems to apply for guys with 125W issues. Everything was all good when PBS was DVB-S MPEG-2. The second things started going S2/8psk I started hearing about issues starting with Montana PBS. Personally it worked fine here using even decent DRO's and awesome with PLL, just had to actually have my motorized system tracking properly. I can't say for sure if anything has changed since I have moved and someone put an annoying building in the way of 116-139W but I'd guess any issue with FSTV is all in the tweaking.

yeah, that's what I'm thinking...something moved or slipped. Maybe I'll give it an extra day or two just in case its weather-related. Still no FSTV, but the PBS stations are all a bit stronger now although with a very irregular signal.

Crap. Not being able to leave well enough alone, I ran out of sunshine and it started lightning and raining. So the system is worse than it was to begin with now, being unable to pick up anything west of 101W. Arrrgh.

OK, maybe it's the heat. I should not have tried to adjust the elevation on the dish. Bad tinkerer! The more likely slip was the wind blowing the motor mount. So now, I have the mid-sky to western arc but lost everything on the eastern arc. I was trying to find the "philosophy of motorized dishes" graphic where it shows too far west, too far east, too high, etc., to help me visualize what I did wrong. I'm sure it's related to elevation somehow.

A little too far east on 125W and 123W, same on 67W, and no signal at all on further east sats. That sounds like I probably adjusted the dish declination angle (not the motor elevation -- I learned not to fool with that) too high and have the motor pointed too far east on the azimuth.

I got it! Thanks! I'm still tweaking my sat system as the pbs ones were so weak, then the big screw up... right now I have it about 95% accurate but these sudden popup storms are horrible and don't allow me to do much before I'm dodging rain and lightning.
