Hi guys and gals. Thought I'd see if there is any interest here for my 50 inch plasma. Vizio VP50 HDTV20A.

After owning the set for 14 months, I experienced the famed POD. It powers up and has audio, but no video. I have been told that the Y and/or Z sustainer boards likely need to be replaced. I don't feel confident to do a repair myself, so I just replaced the TV. I also heard that the screen was worth about 400 bucks.

If anyone is interested, I'll sell for $200. Just reply or PM me.
I won't ship it, but if you are from western NC or east TN, I'd be willing to meet you. I will drive as far as Hickory/Wilkesboro NC, or Tri-cities TN.
I'm in the Boone NC area, BTW.

Shame on me for not buying an extended warranty. Vizio told be basically to jump off of a cliff. I'm heading off of the mountain today to purchase a Sammy from Best Buy. :)

I don't do extended warranties either. I'm in the market for a second HDTV...your story will make me think twice about a Vizio.

If u would of purchased at Costco it would of been covered. I had a 32" LCD with same exact problem as yours purchased like 2yrs before it died. Called Costco and they said it was still covered. Got it fixed at no cost within 3 days too.

Exactly.
screen is worth about 400 bucks.

Let me know when you'll get here. :D

Seriously, SUS boards are running about $150, and for someone who is not electronically challenged, the set can be fixed or parted out. My TV repair guy wanted $350 labor, regardless of what was wrong.

My 50" went out after 18 mos. I had purchased it at Cost Co and it was replaced with no questions asked. I could have got my money back but I like the Visio.

When I had this problem I joined AVS Forum . In the Official Vizio P50HD Thread. There are people in that forum who state that they raised enough hell with Viso that Visio went ahead and replaced their TV for free. Even though it was out of warrantie.
