For those of you that have gotten USPS tracking information, let me be the first to tell you that you will have the equipment in your hand before they update their website. The post office sucks when it comes to tracking packages online.

Yeah, the USPS system is a little slow at times, but just so everyone is aware, their system is not "tracking", it's actually just called DELIVERY Confirmation, so unless you drop the package at the counter of a post office, it won't get scanned until it is actually delivered, and only provided the carrier doesn't forget. I have yet to ever have a carrier forget to scan one though. It will usually only show that it's been "delivered" sometime between 2 and 24 hours AFTER the delivery, once the carriers handheld is returned to the station.

I almost always drop my stuff at the post office, or request the carrier scan it as received, so at least there is proof it has been shipped (once it shows up in the system).

My problem is only in not getting ANYTHING from the seller. The least he could have done was, as promised, provided me the tracking information.

I would hope that the seller would be honest, as he has been a long time member.

However if you feel you have been ripped off there are two steps you should take

1) Despute the charges with your credit card company or pay pal.
2) File a mail fraud alert with the USPS
https://www.usps.com/postalinspectors/fraud/MailFraudComplaint.htm

In addition you may also file complaints through other cybercrime offices including the FBI. For more details please see http://www.cybercrime.gov/reporting.htm

Please feel free to update this thread as things change.

I do hope you do get what you paid for.

Thanks for the added information Scott. I too had hoped since he has been a long time member here that it would be safe to buy from him, but so far he is still unresponsive. I already started the above processes, starting with paypal, hoping that it would at least get his attention and force him to provide a tracking number, but my next step is filing with the cybercrime division of the FBI, and filing a complaint with my CC company if paypal doesn't refund my money.

I hope that the others that sent him money will be also take action and are able to get somewhere.

I'm off to escalate my complaint through paypal since the seller has not responded at all.

FYI the FBI cybercrime thing actually works. Some jackhole in el paso swindled me and some other people on ebay awhile ago. I filed online and a week later a detective in el paso calls me up saying they have the dude in custody. Apparently he had an outstanding warrant so they picked him up on that and started investigating his ebay scams.

I still get restitution checks to this day. I figure by 2030 I'll have my money back :)

BTW Navychop are MD'ers allowed at the NOVA gathering? ;)

I gave him $195.00 through paypal, that is why I filed a complaint with them first. I escalated my complaint yesterday, hoping that will speed things up, but we all know how Paypal can be sometimes... They may never recover the funds if they aren't there to recover, or they could rule in the sellers favor for no darn reason (rare, but it does happen).

I am filing with cybercrime as well, but was kind of waiting to see if I'd get a response after the paypal complaint. Still nothing, so I think the seller has skipped on us. I think anyone else that paid this seller and haven't received anything yet, should coordinate so we can all file our complaints at the same time, so it puts more pressure on. I think it will be taken more seriously to have multiple complaints.

I have just esclated mine to a claim, he did not respond to any pms here or the email from paypal ( I filed it yesterday, but have been trying to contact him for sometime) looks like this could get ugly...I just hope the seller is okay and will get on here soon and give us a update. I am sorry it came to this.

Ok, those of you that have also been ripped off by the seller (apparently anyway), would you be interested in setting a mutual day/time to file our complaints with the internet crime complaint center (FBI) so it may have more impact with them, and get faster attention? I think a coordinated effort might help substantiate the complaint, and make it more likely they'll pay attention to it. The site for filing the complaint is http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/ (I hope it was ok that I posted that link, if not one of the moderators can remove it, and my apologies in advance).

I originally was going to wait a short time to see if paypal got anywhere, or if the seller responded, but I feel I have given him enough time already. Anyone have a suggestion as to the day/time? Possibly tomorrow, around noon Eastern Time? Please post your ideas/suggestions/etc., and we'll try to coordinate this effort.

Thanks to everyone that has helped with this! I appreciate it greatly.

Kevin

Kevin, I am going to try and see what paypal/ and the seller do. I want to give him every opportunity to make this right. I am hoping he will, and I will wait a couple more days to see what happens.

What, and leave all this TRAFFIC!?

We're not losing a citizen, we're gaining a parking space.

Sorry to see you go. One less person for the upcoming SatGuys NOVA meeting. ;)
Traffic and overpriced housing is the reason why we're heading out of town...just not willing to fork-over an addition 300k to live close to work. On a positive note, our new home is "FiOS ready" and we won't be leaving for a few more months...can't miss the SatGuys NOVA pow-wow. I wouldn't invite Scott, Charlie or Jim and watching them on JibJab.:p

...very strange considering his long-time membership and the fact my NIB 622 shipped the following day free-and-clear.

That's exactly how I felt too. That is why I have given him so many chances to respond, and so many avenues to do it through, but it's at a point I don't think I can take any more chances waiting. If he shipped as he says he did, it should have arrived already, and he would have provided some kind of proof of shipping as he PROMISED he would do. Too many things point to it being a bad situation unfortunately. No response to email, but when you email inquiring about the for sale he is FAST to respond, finally responds to pm's saying he doesn't answer emails very fast, yet he continued to respond fast to inquiries about buying, then says he'll provide tracking the next day, but nothing happens, no response to Paypal complaint, no answer to phone calls, nothing...

The only thing else I could think of was that something bad happened to him and he hasn't been able to get online to respond, which I would hate to find out. Well, on one hand I would hate it (hate to know that someone was hurt), but on the other would be a relief (to know that there is a reason things are delayed). If it weren't for the quick responses to other peoples emails inquiring about the for sales, and him saying "yes, it is still available", and then a fast response again after asking him why it appears he sold it already to 3 people, but says he still has IT available, I would say it's just a mixup. Not much chance of that after this much time and all these factors.

Oh well, it just gives internet sellers a bad name unfortunately. Hopefully it will all work out in the end.

I was going to wait longer too, but my fear is, if it IS a big scam, and not some other strange phenomenon that caused him to disappear, he may be getting ready to move, or may have already, and/or may have more time or may have already pulled the funds OUT of paypal, making it harder to recover. The longer we wait, the farther away he can get with that much more money. Just makes it that much harder for the authorities to track him down and do something.

I still hold out small hope that there was just some sort of glitch, and it's all a misunderstanding, and the 622 will show up tomorrow or something and I can drop the whole thing, but it just doesn't feel like that is going to happen unfortunately.

I'll track his butt down! NOBODY screws with our members like this. The poor guy doesn't even know what's coming, but he will soon! I have too many friends in high places here where he lives, and now he's pissed me off!

I'm surprised at this as well since my transaction seemed to go smoothly.

this member has annoyed me now as well with going radio silent to the rest of y'all.

Yep, what LER said. My 3 items arrived quickly with good communication. But this no communication thing irritates me eventhough it doesn't affect me directly.

I really hope there is a reason for it, but it does not seem so at this time.

We have been doing a lot of investigative work in the background and have found out a lot about this person.

We have his name, address phone number, police / court records, name of the satellite company he works for etc. And we are prepared to give this information (all public record) to those who are out their money.

In addition we are also prepared to contact Echostar with this persons information and his companies information as there is a good chance the equipment he is peddling is stolen (ie ITEM's that were supposed to be RMA'ed. As no dealer can even buy a 622 for $200).

But being fair we will give this party 48 hours to make good on his sale or issue refunds, then if they do not comply we will PUBLICLLY post their information so that those who want to press charges can do so. We have also already been in contact with his local police department, and they are willing to take swift action.

Again we are going to give the seller the benefit of the doubt, maybe he got sick or something. But 48 hours is the grace period we are going to give this user. After that his information will be exposed.

The lesson here is don't screw over a SatelliteGuys member. :)
