Rather than going through the TECH CHAT THREAD, Please post any information on the portable devices here on this thread.

From Tech Chat 11/12:

Archos Generation 5 605 (available now)and 705 (coming soon)
You can get software from the Archos website to make your receiver work with these.
Also these boxes do a "move" not a "copy" now.


Download both HD and SD programming through USB 2.0 Port?

"If you're not familiar with it, you connect it up to our boxes through the USB 2.0 port. And once that's done just follow the on-screen prompts and it'll tell you how to move selected high def... er selected STANDARD DEFINITION programing over to the Archos device."

Software is not yet available on Archos Website?

It sounds like it will be later in the year.

Does that mean you Can or Can't move HD recordings over to it? I assume you could copy HD recordings over via the receiver outputs instead of the USB port without the Plug In? I realize they wouldn't be HD resolution, but it's only a 7" monitor. How will the 705 deal with Widescreen programming? I think I will be getting one of these, but I'm curious about some of these details.
