Free upgrade to the Hopper 3?

I do not know how others are getting Free upgrades or what the qualifications are but I was quoted $250 to get and H3 and 2 4k joeys.

I have had dish all but 2 years and a month of the last 15 years.
Always had autopay and paperless billing.
Have perfect credit.
always had the protection plan.
Only 38 days til my current contract is up.
I am even one of the fools that got suckered into pay $200 for a 922 upgrade to use with the multi room extender that was canceled.
My bill is $135 a month.
I have never called and ask for a discount.

I would think I would be one that they would want to keep around

The price is correct. It may be because you are under contract. A lot of members here that were quoted the same thing did enough sweet talking to Dish in order to have that fee dropped.

Basically they are charging you $150 for the Hopper and $50 for each 4k Joey. If you don't have a 4k TV where those Joeys are going then save the money and get two Joey 2 receivers.

Oh I get the break down of price and I am 100% good with paying the $50 each for the 4 K joeys because I want the fastest they have because I am sick of my slow as molasses flowing uphill joey 1.0 but the $150 hopper upgrade I am not good with.

Well that's your opinion and that's fine but I think you're willing to pay money for the wrong product. I don't think the extra speed you're going to get out of the 4k Joey is really worth the $50. The Joey 2 seems to be plenty fast, you can trust me since I just swapped out a Joey 1 with a Joey 2. I could see maybe spending the money if you needed to save space, needed the PIP, the blutooth ability along with the speed but just for speed alone seems like a waste of money. I'd rather spend the money on the Hopper.

Or..... Just call Dish and tell them you want it free or you walk. Could work.

I would cancel that install immediately and contact DIRT. I'll bet you'll get a better deal. $54 does not sound right, not even considering taxes.
Wel 2 Dirt reps said they could do nothing since it's a new install that I had to go through sales.I will call in and see what I can do. I don't mind paying, but when they say you qualify for our very best offer, and it turns out it's not kinda makes one go hmmmm.

Dish does have different tiers for new customers signing up and if you do not fall into the top tier then there is a $50 fee for the Hopper 3. I'm not sure what the extra $4 they quoted you was though.

I just had one possibility pop into my head. He said Dish told him his credit was excellent and that may be. He did say that he was returning to Dish so it's possible he's rated slightly lower because he is considered a Former Customer.

That would make sense as the same happened to me. I was a former DISH customer, returning after a 2 year break.
DISH also indicated excellent credit and no problem qualifying.

Can someone please confirm if my EHD content will still be intact when I move from Hopper w/Sling to H3? Thanks in advance

Yep. All my content is sitting on my EHD and I can watch it just fine. I did not transfer any of that content on to the Hopper 3 though, I've just been watching it off the EHD.

Really - contact DIRT.

Yep really.
I had direct for 18+ years ( cx # in 1st 2000 of existence) and like I said was in the biz for 20+ yrs. I bet I've got enough 301s / 11s here still to build head racks for a small town. ( as well as d10s 11 and even the old Samsung's with the games from the other guys and a hr 20 or few too) - been in the sat game since it fired up but then Got out when "they" started tearing down the houses so to speak .
( yes I've got Claude stories also But mostly from D )
Anyway
Swapped for orig hopper in 2012 ( from 18 yrs with D) even when uverse was part of the att comp perk.
Now free direct ultimate is the perk.
So I add hbo sho and few other tads and whats my bill?
It sure isn't 141$ and change Plus tax that is on Dish but that's My choice right?

Maybe
I'll deal with dirt or out of simple spite maybe a 3 month drop is due.!!
( football over ...Rollll Tide ! And my mlb is on a pass) AND then I'll get a price lock and a hopper and and and....)
As it goes.. Some things never change.
(Including the business practices of these sat companies.)

Like someone else said...
I'd think that I'm a poster child for Dish
( history...free service from some else.../ my story in general)

I know one thing..the whole ordeal rubbed me the wrong way.
