You must be a real FTAer if you want every dish you see, whether you can use it or not.

I'd decided not to post this, but the words of PrimeStar31, made me re-evaluate the situation.
Are you kidding? If it's a FREE DISH, get it!
Then worry about the size, or what you can use it for. You can never have too many dishes!
If you think you do, you aren't a TRUE Fta guy! :D
p.s. If they are big enough and you don't need them, just remove the lnb, hook it up to your snowmobile, and haul the kids around! hehe.
Always good for some use.
I have to agree.

Here's the deal.
Radio Shack stores have been remodeled for the Xmas season.
They put in new tables promoting cell phones, and . . .
. . . reorganized the TVs.... from the left wall to the right wall!
Yea, big waste of time! -

So, with the TVs moving, they had to move the Dish Network HD PVR, too.
Well, my buddy's store still keeps the Dish 500 (dummy) they had over that section.
However, another store down the street, with a different floor plan, discards his dish.
We're talking the one that is inside the store, right over the receiver.
I know the guy, asked if I could have it if he didn't need it, and picked it up today.
It may not be too wonderful, but the price was right! - :up

And if you think it's not useful for FTA, there's always Whitesprings.
Here's a fine example of McGuyver's work at making it FTA-friendly.
front view; rear view.

Anole,

Keep collecting those D*rect and D*sh pizza pans, they're great for fixing other peoples systems. It's running ~$100 for a service call for the big guys.

I've made a number of folks very happy by fixing their sub setup for a cup of coffe, and mentioning off hand I'm on the lookout for some of "those old big dishes no one uses anymore". I keep hoping a spun Birdview is in my future as a reward for good deeds.

Actually, I've been dreaming of a Birdview, myself. - :up
Don't rank too high on the good-deeds scale, though.
Think it's time to change my ways? :D

Nice LNBF brackets, Anole :up
Yea, it's a design from last year by someone who's been missing from the forum for a long time.
That would be our friend, CadData.
PopCornNmore has recently posted some of the finest pix of that bracket design.
Complete with a majestic sky for a backdrop.
And I'm sure others have built 'em as well.

I like to incorporate the best ideas from the forum, but this one was pure gold.

Now if we can come up with something for the Dish500 . . .
McGuyver did a great job, but I don't immediately see how to copy it.
