Are they getting rid of the free HD for life promo after the 17th and are they keeping the 3 dish America packs has anybody heard?

HD will be free as it is now. Silver and Gold apparently will not be available to new subscribers. Answers can be found at this appropriately named thread;

I looked again at the charts I didn't see anything about them doing away with any if the 3 dish America packs or anything about free HD for life

It's base on how customers qualify. Not everyone will qualify for free HD.

The did do away with the buy in for HD free for Life, those who qualify will need to do the Paperless Billing and Auto Pay bit.

Not always. I have no Paperless billing or auto pay and paid no fee when the offer came out.

Rules may have been different when you started receiving it, my comments are with the upcoming changes starting Jan 17th.

Apparently this Thursday is the day you no longer can pay the $99 for free HD for life. Must get paperless billing and autopay I guess.

I was told the last day you could buy in was Jan 16th. Maybe Dish pushed it back 2 weeks.
