Free channels for 2 months: not bad, dish!

I dropped dish about two months ago to go with Directtv and their HD DVR. Last night got a call from somebody from Dish and the CSR started speaking to me right away in Portuguese. At first I thought it was a prank of some friend as this person asked me why I left dish and disconnected the Brazilian channel I was to have. So she offered me two free months of the two brazilian channels. Of course I had to say "hey, how about the voom channels, can I get them for free also? " (gotta have Pink Panther again in HD!!! ;) ) . She said, sure :D . I'll just give you the whole HD package with the voom channels for free also! Now, after that I still had to call them THREE times to finally get the receiver activated.

I thought it was a great marketing idea from them. And the fact that I still can get it "a la carte" is not a bad deal. If indeed the new Voom channels do come and I can still get them with my 811 I may just continue the service. The only problem is that, for me to get voom I had to repoint one dish to get the 129 bird; and that used to be the one for 110 and 119. Now, I get 129 and 119. And I'm not about to pay $ to get a dish 1000! So, I really don't get the rest of the HD channels. But except for TNT HD I get all of the others anyway.

Just sharing my story...

Hey Francisco,

Do you get your locals out of Sacramento? If so you might be eligble for the 1000 with the must carry rules. KSPX and the spanish channels are on 129.

Hey and thanks. I dont' get my locals through dish anymore. I already took advantage of the "must carry" deal in the past and they put a second dish already (which I then used to get the brazilian channel). But because right now I'm on a "a la carte" deal they might not want to do that for free and ask either for a commitement or to add their minimum package. but something I should explore anyway. but, I'll probably wont' keep this after the free period expires. I'f I got the HD Dvr then, perhaps I would... :D

I cancelled dish alltogether, not only those channels. And it took them 5 months to call me back. If you want to wait that long... ;)

When might Voom be added to the HD Pack?
