Free 54.1 Remote With Google Assistant

No freebie for me either, I have a 54 that I paid for. So much for being in the Elite tier, it would be nice to have the backlit remote in the bdrm. Oh well.

My empathies, if that's a word. Since you have at least one 54, why not put that in your bedroom and whatever is in your bedroom in wherever the 54 is now?

They're only $10. If it's that big of a deal, then buy one while they're on sale.

Shows regular price for me. However on the page about the remote it says "click here to find out if you are eligible for a free remote", then when you do it says
This Page Does Not Exist... It has been like this for months. :oldno

I bet I'm eligible. My Hopper 3 came with a 52 remote. Maybe I should get it and send it to one of you guys that wants one and can't get it.

Edit! Nope, says I have one. I guess they can see what's paired. Of course Mydish.com is telling me to connect my Hopper to the internet, which it already is via Ethernet

Same here with the Internet. You would think dish could tell if the receivers are connected to the Internet, but evidently not.
I think that Dish can tell if the receivers are connected to the internet. It is just that the website does not always reflect that correctly. I have seen both mydish and Dish Anywhere say that receivers (that are connected to the internet) are not connected, and vice versa. As long as the ownership status (purchased or leased) is reflected correctly, I do not worry about it. I have seen that category flip the status incorrectly, also. One time, I deactivated a purchased receiver, and then later when I reactivated it, it was listed as leased. I immediately complained about that and got it corrected. That is the category that you need to be vigilant about. The internet connection status, not so much.

They sent mine last week. I haven't had my H2 connected to the internet in years, because the crap internet they sell me barely works with it. On top of that, a single day connected would drop my "allowance" by more than 10% not even doing anything with the online functionality.

More misinformation. We have customers who have their Hoppers connected to the internet with Viasat and Hughesnet and as long as they don't do OnDemand the internet usage is very minimal. In fact I have a Hopper 3 here connected on Viasat and it uses very little of the 'allowance'.

how long does it take to get the remote?

ordered mine last week & still haven't received it
That's definitely not good to hear, bnewt! Our chat department would be more than happy to take a look into this and see if they can access the shipping information. Please feel free to reach out to them here: Request Rejected. -- Jake B

I checked online and it said I already have a 54.
I called and said I never had a 54.
We debated the point for a couple minutes.
The CSR said I will send you one. My 54.0 arrived in about 4 days.
The 54.0 once paired automatically picked up all the attributes of the already paired 52 remote, but did not display the version or allow changing the name of the remote. Once I unpaired the 52, the 54.0 displayed the proper ID.

Also the buttons on the edge of the remote are not lighted. They were at least as important to me to be lighted.
I have a ROKU TV and most of the ROKU functionality is not available from the 54.0 remote.

That does seem to be ironic. On the really old-style remotes, the mode buttons were the only buttons that would light up. Now, on the newest remotes, they are the only buttons that do not light up. Pressing the buttons on the side of the remote does cause a lighted indicator of which mode was pressed to appear at the top of the remote, though.

Been a customer for ages, pay on time every time. Never got this offer. Not that it matters now anyway.

I don't care what you want to believe, I'm stating an absolute fact. Not sure what the issue with my Hopper is, but it will chew through internet like crazy not even using it. I only had it connected for occasionally checking the weather and sports scores.

It's absurd for you to tell someone what does and does not happen with their service. What's next? Are you gonna tell me my internet hasn't been completely out the last 3 days and my "allowance" hasn't dropped by 800MB when I've had to use internet from a Tracfone the entire time?
