FOX SOCCER PLUS TO DEBUT NATIONWIDE ON DISH NETWORK

It is up and running , and the PQ looks better than Setanta did.

They are showing England-Egypt on Wednesday, sounds like fun.

Meanwhile, on regular FSC, Sky Sports News with Millie Clode makes me hope that SSN goes HD soon! :

I hope you're right, Scott!

I was devastated this weekend when I saw the crawl during the Wales-France match about Setanta being dropped from Dish's lineup. "No more rugby??" But if you are right about Fox carrying Premiership, Magners & Heineken that's great! What about Super 14 ,The Air New Zealand Cup and also the Curry Cup?

Say it's so...Joe (I mean Scott)

All Setanta subscribers on Dish Network are now receiving Fox Soccer Plus.

Fox Soccer Plus has Premiership, Magners & Heineken Rugby. No word on whether or not they will have any other rugby.

National team rugby (6 Nations perhaps ?) was on BBC America & BBC America HD a few days ago...

Remember Setanta Sports is NO MORE here in the USA, they have ceased operation. I have gotten some emails and PM's from members upset at DISH for taking Setanta down as now they are missing Rugby and other shows that only Setanta had.

Dish had NOTHING to do with Setanta going away, it is no longer available ANYWHERE in the US as of today.

When I checked Friday the Super 14 games were no longer in the guide past today (3/1/10). :(

Be advised that one of the reasons Setanta went out of business, is that their viewership was too small.

Some of the sports they covered will now only be available on the Internet.

I have the same experience with ski racing (only on TV during the Olympics), and the America's Cup, both of which are too "niche" to be shown on regular TV, and now are only on the Internet.

Also, TV has a "distance" bias.

For example, this weekend, ESPN failed to show an English Premier League soccer game, because it conflicted with a US College Lacross game.

Yep, I figured most of the southern hemisphere rugby would be dropped. I probably won't sub to fsc+ because of it but at the same time I can understand that i'm probably in the minorty.

I just checked right now and the Super 14 rugby is still on schedule...

March 5
Chiefs vs. Reds
1:30 AM ET

March 6
Crusaders vs. Blues
1:30 AM ET

March 6
Waratahs vs. Sharks
3:30 AM ET

FSC TV Schedule

That particular schedule is very messed up, for example, look more closely:
1:30 AM
Passport to South Africa
Group A
1:30 AM
Super 14
Crusaders v Blues

I would think there's more to FSC + then simply being Fox Soccer #2.....why would anyone pay $15/month for it if it was just lesser events than whats on the FSC?

My guess would be that they will take as many of the best matchups off of FSC and put them on FS+, thus screwing the people that don't want to pay $15 a month for one channel.

I wonder if they will offer a free preview anytime soon. I am a big FSC fan, and after checking their schedule I don't see any difference to the programming on Plus except for the Rugby. So, if we are to pay $15 for Rugby then its a ripoff. If you are a Rugby fan then it may be worth it, however I care out my football and for that it ain't worth.
For fill ins they have Fox Soccer report and Sky Sports News which are already covered on FSC. I see no MUTV or Chelsea TV in their schedule, in the Dish TV Guide.
I woulkd probably pay $5 a month but not $15. I already pay $59.95 for the Hindi Mega Pack and thats crap and not worth it, but I have to have it for my parents.

If you subscribe to international programming, you can get Fox Soccer Plus at a reduced rate of $9.99/month. I subscribe to DishLatino so I'm eligible for the reduced rate. I'm sure you would be eligible since you subscribe to the Hindi Mega Pack.

oh boy... has anyone tried to sign up to FS+ after the rename from Setanta? We've tried using the interactive option\menus on the receiver, no dice. We logged in to our account and went to change programming on the dish site and can't find FS+\Setanta as an option anywhere. We tried using the online chat option and after waiting over 5 mins the rep insisted on still calling it Setanta but told me that it's not available. /facepalm\ I tried a second agent and the chat log is below:

(03hy) Anthony K. GFW: Your patience is greatly appreciated.

*EDIT* - After trying 2 different rep's via phone, I got similar responses. Hopefully this gets sorted soon and\or email to ceo works.

high-five! i tried adding the channel on our 2nd receiver using the options built in to the receiver and it worked! did not work on our 722k per my post above but it went through using our 222k. both boxes have FS+ now :) COME ON ENGLAND!

I just looked at my first bill after March 1st and it now says "Fox Soccer Plus" instead of "Setanta" and is still at $9.99, so that price still holds for Dish Latino subscribers (and I've heard it holds for any International package subscribers).

HIGH DEFINITION FSC+

No one seems to be talking about the availability of FSC+ in High Definition. This was the main part of their commercial a few weeks back. I have the regular version on 406 on Dish Latino Max. Is it anywhere else on the program guide ?

All service providers that added Fox Soccer Plus on March 1 only broadcast the SD version of the channel. No one currently is carrying Fox Soccer Plus in HD. It will take time before it is added in HD on Dish Network.
