Just got $20/6 months! Original offer was $5/6 months and I flat out told the rep shut it off now. She counter with $20/6 months.

Called retention at 866-218-2297

I am guessing you won the offshore lottery, as I don't know if any US agents that handle that are even at work right now. Offshore will pass out money and goodies like candy, they're never really held responsible for their actions.

No, agents are open until 1am EST. The offshore guy was a chat.

and plus they added a channel 204, which is just a loop of the "we're sorry but Fox has pulled these channels" video from Joe Clayton. this isn't gonna be a very merry Dishmas this year for Dish

while i only watch Fox News when it's a big breaking news event (i even watch CNN and MSNBC when a big breaking news event happens that has me channel surfing the news channels for the latest).

so this won't hurt me as bad as the Turner dispute due to the fact that CNN and Cartoon Network/Adult Swim were on my most frequency watched channels group, which consist of TBS for Conan (TBS almost joined the Dish/Turner dispute), CNN for news, The Weather Channel for weather or specials related to Tornadoes and Hurricanes, Catroon Network for just Adult Swim, USA and Syfy only for WWE, used to be Spike TV for TNA, but Destination America will replace it as TNA's TV home until the company folds or TNA's TV shows get canceled, Comedy Central for these days South Park, Tosh.O, Key and Peele, Brickleberry (i hope it gets renew after that offensively funny season they had) and now Daily Show as i started getting back into Daily show, also WFAA 8 in DFW for Jimmy Kimmel live and News 8, CBS 11 KTVT for local weather coverage during severe weather, KXAS NBC 5 for news and weather, KDFW Fox 4 for news/weather and Fox Sunday shows which include Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob's Burgers and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. and FXX for just classic Simpsons. on the sports side of things, Longhorn Network, the ESPN channels and FSN SW/FS1/FS2 for a sports event that might intrest me. and not to mention FS!/FS2 and now NBCSN and NBC 5 for NASCAR starting next year.

I did get through and got an off-shore customer rep. I got a one time credit of $25 after I told her I would cancel the service. Will see how long this lasts, but knowing Charlie it will be a few weeks.

Customer service (in general) is open until 1 am EST. Same for the account specialists. But, that does not mean it will be onshore. I can tell you, all of the east coast call centers closed a few hours ago. There were a few (Texas and Colorado) offices open after that, but the vast majority of CS and account specialists will be offshore right near close. Customer service used to be 24 hours, but it's not now. Tech is still 24 hours, but there will not be any account specialists available, and you'll be prompted to call back tomorrow if you threaten to cancel.

Say it isn't so,Dish has dropped another channel,in a continuing effort to be the low cost leader.

Seriously, for all those affected,I hope it's resolved soon.

But...these disputes are really,really,getting old.

Dish did not drop the channel. Dish had a contract to run the channel, the contract expired. Maybe this could be considered semantics, but Fox could have granted Dish permission to continue to run the channel during negotiations (even without a contract), and Dish generally makes that request. If the channel is off the air, it is not because Dish chose to drop it. Dish has not agreed to 20th Century Fox's contract request. Not the same as dropping the channel.

Just a couple of thoughts. There are two hot threads, the Fox takedown, and the 2015 price increase. Not directly related, but in many ways, they are. I wonder if the same people complaining about the potential price increase are the same ones that get mad when Dish refuses to pay what a provider is requesting? Even when Dish fights hard to minimize how much more they pay for a channel or channel group from a provider, they are paying more every year. Many of these contracts were negotiated this year with no public drama, but likely did include an increased cost that Dish has to pay per subscriber. So, if Dish has to pay more for so many of their channels each year (and as ChadT41 noted, even if a contract isn't up for renewal, likely has a price escalation clause built in for the next year), does it not seem logical that prices will have to go up?

Other providers (DTV, Comcast, Time Warner, etc) have had price increases. Many will tuck them into other fees, like the sports channel surcharge. Prices are going up all over.

I'm not one to complain about content, but it's my opinion that paying people like the Kartrashians, all the other "reality" show actors, and the increased salaries paid to professional athletes (thus requiring the content providers to charge more for the programming), this is a major part of driving costs up. Again, only my opinion, and not related to where I work.

Three outages in a row is a little too much. Most people don't mind an extra $5 a month, it is paying for hundreds of channels that I never watch, and losing the three channels that I do watch, Fox News, FBN, and TCM for 5 weeks.

It gets to the point that all the enjoyment is wasted with all of these disputes. I may take a rest from Dish and rely on Roku and Netflix instead.

According to Dish, Fox wants early renewal and rate increase for FS1 FX and FXX included. So overpaid athletes and actors can be blamed for Foxnews going dark.

Considering that's probably what every other provider has agreed too, I dont think that's that much of an unfair demand from FOX. It's probably done like that for book keeping purposes at FOX and they most likely are wanting to lock in a longer contract with Dish. Dish probably doesn't want to reorganize things on their end. It amazes me how we see these disputes much much more with dish and we hardly see them with Directv, Comcast or any other cable company. I honestly dont see the problem with Fox wanting early renewal for the other channels and bundling them in with the contract considering the fact dish could get a longer contract out of the deal. While it may be a bit more expensive, are the disputes and bad PR worth it? In the end Charlie is betting that people wont walk.

Fox News Channel executive vice president of distribution Tim Carry issued the following statement: "It is disappointing that, after nearly two decades without a blackout, Fox News Channel has been blocked by Dish Network. We care deeply about our viewers and hope that they will regain access to the number one cable news channel soon."
Carry added that Fox is still working to reach an agreement with Dish.
"This is the third time in as many months that DISH customers have suffered through a blackout due to Dish's intransigence," he said. "Dish's record speaks for itself, and makes its rhetoric about 'reasonable' agreements ring hollow."
The Dish Network issued a brief statement on Saturday night as well, which placed the blame on Fox for the breakdown in negotiations. "The media conglomerate," Dish said of Fox, "introduced other channels into negotiations despite those channels not being included in the contract up for renewal."

yep, lets just continue the bend over and take it bundling scheme. It will eventually come crashing down. Heaven forbid Fox actually honor their original contracts. Instead it's now the 2nd time they have tried to to get out of their original contracts for Speed and FX. I really wish Dish would take a firm stand and drop one of these monopolistic conglomerates. The pay tv industry needs to change and it's gonna take one of the big providers saying no instead of a little player like suddenlink or cableone.

The fact that these channels were cutoff during the Christmas/New Years holiday period will not impact me. Too many other activities going on.

Dish does a lot of things right, but waking up to find Glenn Beck in place of the hotties I am used to every morning has crossed the line. If they don't get this resolved soon and if these "outages" don't stop, it will be time to move on from Dish and I don't care who is at fault or supposedly looking out after my interest. My ~$!80 check I write to Dish each month should be enough for both sides to find a profit.
