I have a better idea. How about Dish gets rid of the dollar store guide data and brings back Gracenote data?

...or maybe Dish figured their customers would freak out at a commensurate increase in their monthly bill to compensate for an increase in guide data costs.
Yeah it's much better to piss your customers off with constant missed recordings and descriptions that tell you nothing about the show or movie than to raise their bill.

oh, I agree that missed recordings suck, but you've seen what happens on this site every time there is a price increase for anything, or some new fee introduced. Imagine what would happen if everyone got their bills in April and found a new $4.99 "Gracenote Guide Data Access Fee" added.

So to save money I guess Dish thought we didn't need a guide that wasn't useless.

I don't think it's a matter of DISH 'saving money'. It's more like they didn't want to have to increase rates. And the guide is far from useless. I've only had to redo 2 out of 80+ timers.

That's great for you but some of us are still having problems even when we've re done our timers. The problem I've had with the PGA Tour recordings started with grace note and has just been exacerbated by rovi. Getting real old now and frustrating.

I still prefer to use Titantv. It is a little more complicated to set up but I like the way you can set the time frame in your favorites.

I wish that was my experience.

I have been missing programs left and right, on a weekly basis, and it hasn't been getting better for me. I redo the timer and the redo works for one week and then not the next. Rinse and repeat.

That's pretty bad. Are you reporting these problems?

722k ext HDD fix yet or ever?
