speculation?

Well, I was going to say the 36v motor control would make it heavy, but with today's switching regulators, not necessarily.
And is Pansat the only company putting servo motor control in their receivers?
(the answer is "no", but the list is very short)

Sorry, couldn't help myself. - :D

Somehow, Pansat failed to put this on the 9200 HD model....?

gee... I wonder ...

Well, those obsolete servo motors are not for the commercial user.
Those obsolete servo motors are not for the little cable company.
And those obsolete servo motors are not for the hacker market.

I suspect the same can be said for the 36 volt motor controllers, as well.

So, who, oh who, would ever want such a unit?
Wait. I think I might know... could it be us FTA folks?
Naw, I thiink we're goin' out on a limb there, VoomVoom.

Visionsat importers have developed a new receiver with a new manufacturer, but the Visionsat name will most likely be no more.

Just for SatelliteGuys information ..... there are several importers who are working on projects that will be of interest to hobbyists. SatelliteAV is one and currently has potential GEOSATpro receivers testing with several sites.

The GEOSATpro samples currently include support for MPEG2, MPEG4, DVBS, DVBS-2, 4:2:2, blind scan, USALS, DiSEqC 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 2.0,, Multi-CAS, satellite OTA firmware update, USB and eSata DVR capabilities. We are considering which features that are attractive to hobbyist will be incorporated into a unit that is developed for the DTH market (sorry no plans for polarotor or 36vdc actuator support). A few SatelliteGuys have signed NDAs and we are collecting their data to be representative of the hobbyist market. More information will be released if the unit is moved into production. The release of this project is dependent on the acceptance of this design by specific broadcasters for their DTH FSS services.

4:2:2 would be nice but I cant see a DTH provider needing that and therfore willing to pay for that.

mpeg2, mpeg4, dvb-s, dvb-s2, esata hdd dvr is all a dth provider would need. its not what *I* want, but the average joe doesnt want what us hobbiests want. they want simple not advanced.

Yes that does sound like an interesting unit. Those capabilities would put it at the top of my list.

Brian, could we say that various TBN networks might be considered very FTA friendly to the point of promoting FTA? With the dozens of prisons they are equiping (of course no (blind) scan) but Paul wants to have the receivers he pays for to work for a LONG time.

Interestingly, one satellite flyer (owner) wants Paul to put Bibles in all their satellites. They seem to go up better and last longer with the Bible on board. (From last Praise-a-Thon.)

In addition to all of Brian's other good news, this is possibly the best.
Whether he's describing a spin-off of a DTH receiver, or a stuffing variation, the above laundry list could really be exciting.
Obviously, we'll get a subset, not the whole list.
It's great to have someone involved, who's so well plugged into and understands our market.
Thanks, Brian! - :up

TBN is extremely FTA friendly. The front page of their web site promotes FTA reception with a Glorystar system along with a 1.5 million piece snail-mailer this month.
We have already installed the TBN Second Chance FTA system in hundreds of prisons and several hundred more are having Site Surveys scheduled in the next month. The majority of these sites pull the signals from Galaxy 19-KU and a few from Galaxy 14 -C. We are equipping the prisons with the GEOSATpro DSR-R100 DVBs MPEG SD commercial rack mount receivers. While the DSR-R100 series do perform blind scans, the receivers are in a secured area and code locked to a single channel burned in the firmware.

When I see that twitch from Paul Crouch, I KNOW he knows a whole lot more technical stuff than the is telling. It would probably confuse most of the TBN viewers. But from a "boy" who built the transmitter for the campus radio station and got it on the air to the young man who prayed the mountain moving prayer to get the signal to Mount Wilson, getting the Gospel out at the least cost to the listener / viewer is his calling and GOAL. When I worked on the RADIO station at CBI/CBC (documented in 1964-65 yearbooks) we had almost all of the deaf students as our listeners. We had Paul's dream, goal and calling as our vision. Paul and TBN are our friends (understatement!).
