Subject says it all !! :river
I'm still saving my change and selling all the beer cans I can pick up.
BUT, would love to know what the price will be and when this bad boy
is gonna show up...........if ever!!

You will find out more this October. :)

Better yet come to Reno with us and see it for yourself in Person. :D
Hmmmmmmmm, save beer can money and purchase Fortec Passion (when it appears) or go to Reno and see one and loose money and have to start over?
Having read the specs qwert1515 posted a link to, it appears that there won't be any 4:2:2 video capability. But, the second link (to the other Fortec Passion thread) suggests blindscan, but, not listed in the specs on the
Fortec website.
The specs look similar to the newly released Viewsat 9000HD, which uses the same proccessor and does list Blindscan as a feature. BUT, if it's like the
Blindscan for the Viewsat Xtreme, it might not work.
Oh well, my trusty old Pansat 2700a does have hardware based blindscan that works. :)
Thanks for the responses.

grusome I looked at the fortec site last night, they had remarks that the receiver is avail in Europe now, scanned some of the ebay pages but didnt see it mentioned anywhere for sale though. Just for grins I looked at the software-download page, they had software dated late Aug for the passion, saying that update added Power Scan, with the comment that Power scan is Not the same as blind scan. Surely they will have the capability for blind scan in it eventually....

I hope it will have Blindscan and 4:2:2. That would save me a lot of headaches with my dvb setup. I have been trying to get 4:2:2 working correctly in DVB Dream off and on for a while now. But, not much in the way of success. So, I was hoping the Passion would get rid of the problem for me! Plus having an all in one box like that would be great.
Cannot wait for October to get here!! Don't dare go to Reno and spend ( loose) all my money
at the crap tables!

Yes, I agree with you, Grusome. It would be really nice to have an all-in-one set-up, if you will, where you can scan and pick up everything without having to switch over to another receiver (i.e. Quali-TV) to plug in the frequency/symbol rate of an HD or 422 feed.

anyone know how much this bad boy cost?

No stated prices yet for North America. I figure it will be in the same price range as some of the other FTA HD receivers that have started coming out.
$300 to $500. I'm saving towards the top end just in case. :)

As the old saying goes: (internet old saying that is!)
Google is your friend !
Here's a video review of the Passion on YouTube:
YouTube - Fortec Passion
And found one of the UK forums where a guy stated
he paid 150 pounds for his new Fortec Passion.
According to a currency converter, that's about $301.75 USD.
Not bad at all. Of course, import fees and other things will change
that. It could be higher it could be lower. But, at least we have a ballpark
idea now.

Edit: here is a link to one site (UK) that is selling the Passion:
Maplin > High-Definition FTA Satellite Receiver - Passion
More expensive than what one guy said he paid for his on one of the UK forums. Nudging up towards the $400.00 mark!

Very well done review by Dr Dish.

I love the Dr Dish Show. I wish we had it again here in the USA. We use to air it here in the US but the channel I was renting space on went out of business. :(

I find Dr Dish to be interesting too. Maybe someone will pick it up again one of these days.

Me neither and 97W is my True South Sat. It might work but, would be very low to the horizon for me.

I am wondering if the White Spring channel might be able to relay DR. Dish's programings by taping and rebroadcast it to the rest of U.S.A.?:hungry:

Of course we must ask permission to copy his programing.

Since White Spring in Flordia has a better line of sight to 43*W.

Think it will work?:)

It's funny how this thread turned from "Fortec Passion" to "Dr. Dish", but I like it :)

It probably would work but will "White Spring" rebroadcast Dr. Dish? Thats the question we must ask.

Probably the best location for Dr. Dish would be 97 Degrees West or 123 Degrees West

The first is better since most fixed dish are pointed there, Dr Dish used to be on 97 so I would guess that would be the place for it to return to.

I'm impressed with the 'Multisat Scan' documented around the 2 minute mark in the video and I thought to myself I'd really like to have this feature. Then I found this thread that says my Pansat 3500s already has it.

Can anyone confirm if the 3500s actually does have a multisat scan function? I haven't noticed it on any of my scans recently. Are there any other receivers like the Satwork that offer blindscanning multiple sats with the correct pause for motor movement in-between?

Seems ideal for checking for wildfeeds with minimal babysitting.
