Fortec Classic PIN

Hi guys,

Is there a ways I can turn that PIN off so that my receiver doesnt ask for it everytime I turn it on, its a kinda nuisance.

Some boxes have a way in the parental locks to turn it off

I've read that Fortecs have a feature which allows for parental locking of entire satellites (not just individual channels), and that this lock is enabled or disabled via the satellite setup/installation menu.

I'm reasoning that, if the receiver is powered down while tuned to a locked satellite, it would again ask for the PIN immediately upon being turned on.

I can't verify this information as I don't have access to a Fortec. Good luck.

Are you saying when you turn the box on it asks for a PIN? Mine only asks when I go into the install menu, channel menu, etc. If I dont go in the menus I dont need it

yeah .... its asks the pin when i tun the box on...!

Is it possible to dump the channel list to a pc, restore defaults on the receiver, and then reload the channel list ? Or would you be so unlucky that the problem would go with your channel list. Could it be a mis-guided parental control lock ? ( I've never even looked at that on my Classic , why I ask ) .

I dont know brent. I always thought that when you upload a channel list, its just that. the channels. And all other settings can be reset

My money is still riding on the locked satellite theory.

well .. you were right, i turned the sat lock option to OFF and now its doesn't ask for PIN.... thanks
