What does it say at the link for you? When I go to that link it says:

We're excited to announce that FMC Channel 387 is upgrading to High Definition for an enhanced viewing experience starting February 12, 2025.

To continue enjoying this channel, make sure you have a DISH Hopper receiver connected to the internet. Most customers will not need to take any additional actions to continue viewing this channel.

To verify if any action is required to continue viewing this channel:

Step 1​

Grab your DISH remote and press the Guide button.

Step 2​

Try tuning to DISH Channel 198 (DISH scapes). You can type the channel number directly on your remote or scroll up or down the Guide to find it.

Step 3​

• If you can see the DISH scapes content on Ch. 198, you're good to go! No additional actions needed.
• If you see a "Connect to View" message on Ch. 198, don't worry! You just need to connect your DISH Hopper receiver to the internet. We have easy-to-follow instructions for you.
• If you are unable to see Ch. 198 in your guide, you most likely will need to upgrade your system to a Hopper receiver. Contact us at 800-333-3474 and speak with an agent on what special upgrade offers are available.

Comcast has been doing it with their Roku app for years...I don't know how they are doing it...its all cloud based..not on a hard drive

From a technical viewpoint, if YouTube TV can do so, no reason why Dish cannot.

But there could be licensing issues that we do not know about.

The channel is not lost, simply moving to a streaming channel and making it HD at the same time. Of course if you don't have an internet compatible receiver, yes, you lose the channel. It's time to upgrade that receiver.

the problem isn't the receiver, I have that
the problem is that the consumer is again paying more for less, plus now if you don't have the proper receiver or internet service, you can't get the channel at all.

Is that on all Hoppers? We have the Hopper Duo. I tried to record various shows on several of our free streaming channels and each time got a message that "the requested recording is not available for this event."

I tried several streaming channels. The only option it autotune. Recording not available. I'm using a Hopper 3 with H387 software.

Same as the others, Scott. I looked at several streaming channels, and they all showed "no recording". H3 - H387. Is a software update required?
