Hello
I purchased a used radio that came with an FM antenna extender and this radio gets a lot of static. My previous radio [which got stolen] did not have this fm extender and it worked great with no static.Anybody care to comment or have any suggestions?

That radio you got doesn't broadcast as strongly has your old radio, I had a starmate 5 that was great but had to replace it with a new staremate 5, that is just awful, and that fm extender doesn't work very well either . So I had to buy a Fm direct connect modulator

Yep, the new radios are neutered on their FM power! FM Direct connect is the way to go, even beats the pants off the older higher powered radios. In my girl's vehicle it took me 15 minutes to install, wish I would have done that a long time ago!
