first time question

Embarrassing question:

Some folks, me included, have problems swithing the channel on the Dish receiver from 225 to 219 and back.

Obviously, using the "up" and "down" button is not working.

Could the "favorites" button, or something else, be causing this?

Yes, it can. The currently active favorities list defines the next channel used for "up" and "down". You don't explain what is happening when you press the buttons, so it's hard to say more.

Make sure you are in the all channels mode or all sub mode on the guide if you want to go to the next numerical channel. You are most likely in a favorite guide which doesn't include the channels you are wanting to see.
