Hi all,

I have been searching/lurking on here for a few days and can't find an answer to my question. I'm sure it's been discussed before but i can't find it.

I just bought my first HDTV yesterday and am subscribing to DirecTV ASAP (3 rooms). I will be getting the HR10-250 and have found one for 699.99 with dish (yes, it's the one on ebay) and another for 875.00 with a 3 year warranty.

My question is how do i go about subscribing to DirecTV if i already have this equipment (I haven't bought it yet)? Is there a way to do this? Obviously i don't have to buy the HR10-250 separately. I just thought it may save me some $$$.

If buying the HR10-250 (separately/first) is going to make this a big pita I'd rather spend a little more than risk my limited supply of sanity.

I'm up for any suggestions.?.
What are the deals for new subscribers for DirecTV-HD? I've seen some deals mentioned here that weren't on the DirecTV web site.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks in advance,

Shane

Before you buy, run it by Value Electronics, now you are a member you will get an extra 10% off........DEAL! Plus they are very nice to deal with, they are at the top of the page here!

WELCOME to satelliteguys.us : )

You will need to call D* and activate the equipment. When you do, you will set-up your account and sign up for programming. Realize that the $699 deal is self-install, so if you are not handy with tools, you may want to think twice about it.

Also check to see if the "Card " has a balance against it...

For the sake of clarity and archival purposes; DirecTV access cards are non-transferable therefore any outstanding balance will not haunt the new user of the equipment since they will need a new card to activate it.

you should call dealer or directv to give you the equipment free
then add ird later when installer comes to install the equipment he charge custom work for the extra ird to be setup
cost to you is custom work charge
maybe replacement of access card which is 20 dollars

or wait till installer leaves and run the line yourself or swap out one of the free box with the new card from equipment that they bought out. when activating the card csr agent will not know that it need go on the other box if their prb getting the card to work it will be replace at no charge
many loop holes

I dealt with Value Electronics and I must say working with Robert was great. Graham is a little funky but Robert is a man of great character. Any route you choose D* is great and getting better every day. We have moved from HD Lite the last month to full bandwidth HDTV. Life is good and with ASN coming I have no complaints!

slacker,

when did we move from HD Lite to full?? How can you tell?

I only looked at the point I "thought" things were getting better. It just seems that things are getting clearer.

As stated in that thread, the original poster was probably saying the he (she?) as a tech support person will be getting it free, not everyone. (Not really polite to rub it in, could have just said that they get some free programming) The confusion is uderstandable.
