Gen 2 has the Alexa Remote and integrationHow can I tell if I have a Gen 2 or not?
Not only does that eliminate interference from your TV, but it also allows you to move the Fire Stick around so you can position it to get the strongest WiFi signal. I agree with the original post. The latest Fire Stick has been working really well for me.If you're having problems with your FireTVstick and have it plugged directly into your TV, try using an HDMI extension cord to move it a foot or two away to minimize any interference.
I have been traveling around Europe for the last three weeks.
In my sixth hotel and am happy to report that the Amazon FireTV has allowed me to watch DishAnywhere successfully in all locations. Some of the On Demand content is unavailable due to geo location but live and recorded tv from my Hopper 3 has succeeded in all cases.
Only complaint is that when there is a little lag and it has to buffer, I’ll have a silver ring spinning in the center of the screen for the rest of the program even after the connection quality returns to normal.
Sent from my iPhone using the SatelliteGuys app!
When you try to delete a recording, do you hit the Options (or whatever those 3 stacked lines are called) first, hit stop, then try to delete? I was having that issue, until I figured out how to stop the playback firstThe real problem with the DA app on the Fire Stick/Cube/TV is that the handshakes are terrible. When it streams it does well, but any buffering at all will result in a spinning circle that will not go away, even when the show is not stuttering. The only way I've found to cure it is to backspace the show a couple of time to allow the buffer to catch up.
The biggest bug in the DA app is when you delete a PTA show, it stays deleted. If you try to delete a recorded show, it keeps popping up over and over again, especially is you have more than one Fire Stick or Fire Cube. Why does deleting a PTA show work and deleting a recorded show not work?
I've called Dish many a times over this and all I get is a "I'm sorry sir, here is a discount for your troubles"
It's also proved that DA hasn't been touched by any developer at Dish Network for over 2 years! The last update on my iPad and iPhone was over 2-3 years ago. It get's worse. The DA application on the MAC, is/was built in 32Bit mode. The new High Seirra OS complains that it's not going to be compatible with Mohave as OSX Mohave only supports 64 bit apps. Which means that even the current source code hasn't even been compiled in 3 years as XCode would automatically generate a 64 bit versiion in the app bundle.
So I've just given up on the Dish pipe dream and BS about being able to watch Dish Anywhere! In a month or so, DA users that upgrade to Mohave will be SOL!
Not that anyone cares, but my DishAnywhere app again won't play my recordings. I have a 722 w/Sling Adapter. I bought the Fire TV Stick for this one app, and of course it did not work for about a month. Then Dish fixed something and it worked. And now they've broken it again while I'm on vacation
Been on the road for thee weeks and DishAnywhere has worked very well for the whole time. Today it is offline. Had a neighbor unplug and replug dvr. No help. Contacted Dish. They said that the Hopper is online but no internet connection. Bummer. Guess I’m out of luck for accessing dvr the rest of this trip.
It has been really nice to have it while it lasted so I’m at least glad for that.
Today DishAnywhere is working again.
Yes, you do!!!Yeah, I was surprised to see that it was working again (last night) for me as well. Maybe I don't need a Hopper after all...
