From $99 to $109...

Some FiOS users tell us that as their first year contract expires, Verizon is raising the cost of signing up for a another year $10, from $99 to $109. If it's any consolation, it's nicely worded; Verizon going so far as to call it a "decreased discount amount" instead of a price hike:
We want to remind you that your 12-month bundle term will end in February 2008. For your convenience, you can keep your Verizon FIOS Triple Freedom for another 12-month term; however, your discount amount will decrease by $10. There is no action required on your part to continue to enjoy monthly savings with the same great services you have today.
According to some users, if you agree to a longer, two-year contract, you can lock yourself in at a lower price. Verizon is working hard to lock customers into long term contract ahead of fiercer competition from cable providers and looming DOCSIS 3.0 upgrades.
