From $99 to $109...
09:32AM Wednesday Jan 16 2008 by Karl

Some FiOS users tell us that as their first year contract expires, Verizon is raising the cost of signing up for a another year $10, from $99 to $109. If it's any consolation, it's nicely worded; Verizon going so far as to call it a "decreased discount amount" instead of a price hike:

We want to remind you that your 12-month bundle term will end in February 2008. For your convenience, you can keep your Verizon FIOS Triple Freedom for another 12-month term; however, your discount amount will decrease by $10. There is no action required on your part to continue to enjoy monthly savings with the same great services you have today.

According to some users, if you agree to a longer, two-year contract, you can lock yourself in at a lower price. Verizon is working hard to lock customers into long term contract ahead of fiercer competition from cable providers and looming DOCSIS 3.0 upgrades.

FiOS is doing fine...highest customer satisfaction in the industry: higher than DIrecTV/Dish Network and much higher than cable. I expect Verizon to announce they have more than 1.5 million FiOS Internet customers and more than 950K FiOS TV customers when their post their 4th quarter numbers on January 28th.

We shall see...
