Finally got the T90 dish back up...now with 2 degree spacing

well thanks to some ingenuity (and a link by jerryt...THANKS!!) I now have 2 degree spacing on the T90.

He mentioned some stacked KU LNB's that were narrow so I took a chance and bought 5 of them. They look like a LNB after getting squished :)
I know Jerry had cut the LNB holders for the T90 to make them work but I figured lets see what we can do with the existing setup.

So I tried to slip a LNB in between 85 & 89 where I already had LNB's set up. These stacked units have slots to mount to a dish and they caused issues. So I figured "lets put them on top". The LNB is a 2 piece. Took the 4 screws off and flipped it 180 degrees. The skew would be the same as the LNB itself doesn't change. Just the flange does. Now the mounting holes are on top.

Slipped that in between 85 & 89 and let the mount rest on top of the other LNB's....BAM...80 on 12180 TP.
Now stacked technology is different as the H transponders are "stacked" on top of the V and the polarity is vertical. This allows you to hook multiple receivers to one output since they are the same polarity. The LNB LO is 13850. So I changed it and scanned vertical only which makes it quicker. The vertical TP's (the normal ones) are pretty much the same but the normally horizontal ones go backwards. So it scans the normally V from low to high (with the weird frequency) then scans the H (on the V side) from highest to lowest. So I scanned AMC3 and got pretty much everything I wanted at very good signal levels. So 12180 is now 15280

Then I tried G11. Took the screws out again and flipped it. Since the only thing V I could find was 12080 slipped it in there and bam 75

Securing them isnt the best but between zipties and some strong glue type substance they are in place. I did add one for 99 for the audio on the 4DTV. The 4DTV will not recognize stacked technology bit the V side is fine which gives me almost all the audio channels

So now between the LNB's I could get at 2 degree to begin with.....and add the stacked LNB's....I now have on the T90
72 74 79 85 87 89 91 93 97 99 101 107 110

83 & 95 don't really have anything on there and 103 I'm still trying to get :)

first two pictures are all of them
3rd is closeup of 85/87/89/91/93
4th shows most fo them
5th shows back view
6th is below view
7th is closer back view
8th is closeup of how the bracket rests on the other 2 LNB's
last one is closeup of 99

We'll give ya a pass 'cause it's late, but tomorrow maybe you'd be nice enough to post us some pix?

BTW, why not just hook the bandstacked LNBs all to a different receiver, through a different switch network?
One (receiver and switch) that handles the LNBs properly.
Then the frequencies would be correct.

edit:
looks like you posted the pix while I was typing
Thanks.

it wont be the same because on bandstacked all TP's are vertical. So the box has to do the decoding

91 is hooked through the 4x1 diseqc to a receiver that can do bandstacked
87 is hooked to the CS8000....glitch there (separate thread)
99 is for the audio on G4...like I say 3 of the 4 TP's are V so we're OK there.

These the settings I used for Linear (FSS) Band Stacked LNB's;
LOF1 10750, LOF2 10750

Converted satellite ini files by subtracting the Horizontal freq's from 24600

So 24600-12180(H)=12420(V)

(Note 10750 + 13850 = 24600)

I'll have to try that tonight. The Pansat & Fortec support bandstacking but the 8000 doesn't...or so I thoguht :)

Hey Iceberg,

With all the weather delays, you need a Sunsetter Awning.

"Tell 'em about the discount, Harry!!"

Seriously, though, have you drawn a schematic that we can all see? Pretty please?

oof. Most of my "schematics" are just hand scribbed drawings on notebook paper while I sit at work :)

Let me see if I can draw something up and scan it in. There are lots of switches & wires running under my deck but I know where each thing goes (thats the scary part). The original drawings didn't work out for various technological reasons but I probably have a few hand scribbled drawings around

Also when I was hooking it up I knew what cable went to which room by the writing on the cable
I think I have an addiction :)

OK...here is a really bad paint program of the setup below so I'll try to describe it.

4 dishes outside. 30" motorized, 36" dish at G10/119, 6 foot C-Band dish at 99 and the T90 with LNB's at 72,74,79,85,87,89,91,93,97,99,101,107,110

3x4 multiswitches on 123 & 99. 99 is H only due to using an old LNB that gets one polarity at a time :)

Coolsat 5000 runs the motorized. There is a dual KU and a DBS LNB up there.

Coolsat 8000 has a feed from the motorized, 123, 99 C-Band and 87 (since it can decode AC-3 through the box)

Dish 811 has 119 & 110

Starchoice has 107

4DTV 905 has 99

Viacast 2000 has 123 & 99 C-Band. The box is simple (10 tp entry max) so it's limited on what I can get

Pansat 1500 has 8 LNB's via 2 4x1 diseqc switches and a ecoda 22k switch (which can pass diseqc commands). 8 LNB's are 72,74,79,85,89,91,93,97

Visionsat also has 8 LNB's via 2 4x1 diseqc switches and a ecoda 22k switch. 8 LNB's are 74,85,93,97,101,119,123,99 C-Band. Since I can only blind scan on port 1 of diseqc switches (known issue) 74 & 85 are on ports 1.

so there ya go....schematic current as of...oh right now (it could change in 10 minutes) :)
