Afetr several calls, I am finally getting my equipment changed out. They are moving my locals off of 72.5 eventually, but everytime I called they told me someone will call me when it is time. They told me it might be a year or so. Well I called today and they told me they would set me up for next Saturday. I told them that I have only one line to my DVR and she told me they would upgrade me to a SWM dish also if possible. I will now be able to CE MRV! Yippee!! I now love me some D*!

I hear that since I already have a Slimline dish, they may not install the SWM. Do you think that they will install it if I ask since I olnly have one line ran to my HD-DVR? Maybe for a nice tip??

Depends.

If the installer is a sub contractor, you will have to pay for the SWM LNB as the sub has to buy all his own parts. If he is a DTV employee, then he does not have to pay for it and therefore would be more able to provide it for nearly free. If you have to buy it, it costs between $100 and $130.

Even if it is already on the work order? The order says a slimline dish on it.

slimline dish is not swm, they do not do SWM upgrades unless you pay for it, if a CSR told you that they are wrong
and he should run second line to bring it up to spec as long as it doesnt require wall fishing

Thats the problem, it does require wall fishing. That's why they couldn't do it the first time. I am not upgrading to upgrade. They are migrating my locals off of 72.5and I have to get MPEG4 equipment. The dish is automatically added to the order the CSR told me. They told me to ask if he has the SWM dish when he gets there because she didn't know if our area is doing them yet. If he does, does he have to change out the whole dish or just the LNB. If it is the LNB, why would he not want to do it? Is it harder than I think it is? My dish is pole mounted, so he doesn't have to climb a ladder. I have a 6x16 multiswitch in my smartbox now and it takes up all the room. I would like to get rid of it since I am only using 6 lines currenty. If he can install it I will be using 5. I have a SDDVR upstairs and it has 2 lines going to it.
