Fellow South and Southwest Floridians, do you have signal on tp 22 on 110W

then it sounds like the dish isnt aimed at 110. I'm in Minnesota and have 110 TP22 working fine (signal)

do you get any signal on TP23-32 on 110? If not, then you're aimed at 119. Dish only owns TP1-21 on 119. Directv has the others and a Dish receiver w2ont get the signal

could I be aimed at 119 if it says locked on the bottom to 110 when I check tp 21?

I will check those tp's tomorrow that you mentioned.

I hope you're right and I can get it in.

also I should mention that when I did a check switch with only 110 connected, I got the green ok for 110 and it aquired signal.

Now I am confused as I have signal on both ranges.

Here are the steps I have taken this AM.

1. Made sure pole is level at all angles.

2. Put a single DP lnb on a dish 500

3. Set skew at 90 degrees

4. Using zip 33993 I set the elevation to 46.

5. I find sat 110 ( at least I believe so )

6. Using an old 311 ird I go the point dish menu

here are the tps and their strengths

01 - 120

02 - 125

03 - 125

04 - 87

05 - 121

06 - 125

07 - 117

08 - 0

09 - 120

10 - 0

11 - 125

12 - 0

13 - 123

14 - 124

15 - 125

16 - 123

17 - 116

18 - 0

19 - 121

20 - 0

21 - 122

22 - 0

23 - 0

24 - 122

25 - 0

26 - 0

27 - 118

28 - not available in menu

29 - 122

30 - not available in menu

31 - 124

32 - 0

Every time there is a signal at the bottom of the screen it says " Locked Echostar 110 West"

I doubt I could be pointed at 119 as the elevation for 119 at my zip is 38 and I am at 46 now.

when I do a check switch test, it confirms 110

when I change to 119 in point dish menu, it says "Wrong Sat Echostar 110 West" so it appears that I am on 110

were the Chicago conus locals moved to tp 22 or have they always been on tp 22? I used to do this all the time but suddenly cannot.

any ideas much appreciated.

from you high signal readings your 311 has old firmware, what does the 222 you are going to use report?

much lower but I dont have the exact numbers.

I posted an ad on craigslist asking locals to check their tp 22 on 110 but no luck so far.

I reupped with dish for 2 years to get vip ird thinking this was still possible.

I am in for a shock if not.

but it makes no sense because the conus footprint covers the entire nation.

Does it make a difference for 110 if I skew it? Does it matter if it is set at 90 degrees? I was wondering if skewing might help.

edit: just got a message from craigslist ad, don't know if it is accurate but they said "due to the rotation of the sat. tp22 is not avail. here in florida good luck with whatever you are up to"

another edit: just got a pm here from a Floridian who said "
Ok, just checked and I get a great signal strength on tp22 sat 110.
Green locked signal: 75"

110 shows as CONUS because it has a couple regular chanenls on it too
265 CCNEW
884 CCTVE

along with Denver and Chicago Big 4 stations

edit: I just moved my KU dish over to 110 to see if I can lock this TP on the free to air setup. Yes they're scrambled but I have max signal on the meter (all CONUS transponders give me max signal) and it shows the same channels as thelist shows
the 2 CCTV I posted above
BIg 4 from Denver (8200-8203)
Chicago Big 4 (8490-8493)

no
Circular polarity (which DBS is) the skew for onoe satellite is irrelevant
The only reason you need to skew is when looking at multiple satellites (since they're at different elevation in the sky)

Do you get channel 265 on the receiver?

I am making progress.

after skewing dish I am now seeing 119 and 110 on the 311 IRD but the biggest surprise was after skewing, tp 22 came in full strength.

I thought I was done and success after all.

so I hooked dish quad lnb on dish 500 to the vip 222 and did check switch and it found 119 110 ok on tuner 1 but says tuner 2 only finds 119.

then I went to point dish menu and tp 22 was not found on vip 222 so now I am confused.

does the dish pro quad work with the vip 222?

wonder why the 311 ird sees tp 22 now when it didn't earlier but the vip 222 does not see tp 22.

the screen says in the check switch menu details

"Satellite Input 1
Status, connected to a dp quad 2 ports
Port1 DP Quad 119 Even Odd
Port2 DP Quad 110 Even Odd

Satellite Input 2
Status connected to a dp feed 1 port
Port1 DP Feed 119 Even Odd

yes the 222 will see the quad but you need 2 lines from that LNB to the 222

do this
run the check switch on the 222 with no sat connection hooked up. This clears the matrix
Then hook up the cables to the sat inputs and make sure you have both sats locked. Then rerun check switch

edit: you mentioned a DP dual and a Quad....which one is it?
The dual sees one satellite
the quad will see two

edit 2: If its the quad, I dont think you can use that for just 110 and plug it into the input of the Eastern Arc dish

ah, I switched to the quad thinking the other was defective.

edit:

I cleared matrix and sadly tp 22 has no signal. It had a great signal on the 311 IRD and earlier in the day it had no signal on the 311.

very odd.

Either one would work for now since you are using a separate receiver but if you want 110 in with the Eastern Arc dish you'll need the DP single (or dual)

265 does not come in.

Iceberg, do you have any idea if chicago local conus use to be on a different tp?

I used to get them in SD here in SW FL

I am taking the info off thelist which is the most up to date info
SatelliteGuys.US - Subscription 110°W

Chicago HD locals are on there twice...Tp17 is for the folks who subscribe via All American Direct as distant HD stations.

The ones you sub to are on TP22

Chicago has been on 22 for a long time...I just checked some old info and I went back to 08 and there were no changes for Chicago locals on a different transponder

no signal on tp 22 with dp quad. no signal on tp 22 with single dp.

I am at a loss.

I have done this for years with the same dish 500's and lnbs.

I really appreciate all the help you have given me.

I thought you mentioned before you had TP22 off 110 before?

I wonder if you possibly are getting 119 & 129 off that quad LNB when you aimed the dish?

I was able to get a 125 signal on a 311 ird tonight on tp 22 110W, but the vip 222 said no signal

I am starting to think that the vip 222 is not allowing that tp to come in? could that be possible?

I didn't know it was tp 22 off 110 before, but I have watched chicago locals in this same spot since 2006.

now I get a vip 222 and I can't watch it?

If I put the card from the vip 222 in a 322 and allow it to update and have dish activate the ird will the card and 322 be compatible?

I know I wont get HD but I would like to see if it is the vip 222 causing the problem

no. The TP is QPSK modulation which any Dish receiver can pick up.

you cannot swap cards between receivers. They are "married" to the receiver

I have a talented dish pointer coming out tomorrow I will see if he will align my 119/110 dish any better. This same dish 500 and LNB received chicago conus before so it must be an error on my part.

I wonder if you possibly are getting 119 & 129 off that quad LNB when you aimed the dish?
If the 311 ird says I am locked on 110 is it possible to be on 119 and 129? are you saying the older irds make mistakes?

I wouldn't doubt it.

Is there a fail safe way to tell I am locked onto 110? Are there certain channels that only come in with 110?
